Do you want to experience the Andes close up but don’t have the time or interest in a long trek? This Humantay Lake trek and Inca ruins excursion is a fully packed day trip from Cusco that allows our guests to become fully immersed in the high Andes in just one day. The turquoise waters of Humantay Lake lay peacefully at the base of the picturesque glacier, one of the most stunning places in the Cusco Region of Peru. This full day excursion is the perfect way for guests to experience trekking in the high Andes, but without having to spend a week of their time on the trail!
After an early morning departure from Cusco, we will drive to the town of Soraypampa and begin our trek to Humantay Lake, located at 4,300 meters. En route, we will make a brief stop at Tarawasi archaelogical site to explore Inca ruins. Once at the lake, guests will have time for photography and to explore the surrounding area. We will then make our way back down the mountain for a gourmet box lunch prior to our departure from this serene landscape.
After lunch, we will drive back through the Andes to Quillarumiyoc, an archaeological site where the Incans made ceremonies to worship the moon. The literal translation of the name means “the place of the moon rock”. The site itself showplaces waterways, terraces, petroglyphs and a huge rock with a semicircular cut in the shape of a crescent moon. Quillarumiyoc is a little-known site seldom frequented by tourists but is an incredibly interesting site to view.
Our personalized and private service with gourmet meals and only the most experienced guides of the region would be a great inclusion to any Peru vacation!

We had a fabulous nine-day tour, including the two day Inca experience, Inca trail/Machu Picchu, and Rainbow Mountain. John, our contact, met us at the airport and helped us generally acclimate to the new culture.
We cannot praise Adolfo, our guide, enough for his knowledge, experience, and attentiveness to our needs. He was so fun to be with. Our driver, Edgar, was excellent. All over, a fantastic adventure.
