Most of our walking takes place in the north of Slovenia in the Julian Alps. This range forms part of the Southern Alps which extend into Austria. The spectacular mountains in this area are predominately limestone, and their jagged forms produce stunning vistas wherever you look. The area is softened by beautiful, tranquil lakes in the valley bottoms and amongst the rocky crags. Two of the largest lakes, Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj, feature on our 7-night walking holiday.
The beauty of Lake Bled attracts world-wide visitors. It is a natural mineral spa lake with its medieval castle, island with church and the surrounding Alps as a stunning back drop. Nearby is Lake Bohinj, a lake set amongst the higher mountains of the Julian Alps in the Triglav National Park. The valley floors are full of picturesque villages whose inhabitants still rely on farming and its agricultural products for their income. The Slovenes are deeply proud of their way of life, and undoubtedly you will be tempted by their food which offers a host of national dishes many influenced by the cuisine of neighbouring countries. Slovenia also produces excellent wine.
There is walking in Slovenia to challenge the most demanding of walkers as well as those who require more gentle routes. The limestone peaks give many opportunities for ridge walking with stunning vistas of local peaks and lakes. You can walk to the top of Mount Vogel (1922m) with its commanding views all the way to Italy and Austria. Helpfully, some of these high walks can be assisted by the use of a cable car.
Experience routes through the mountains built by soldiers in the First World War as supply routes for Italian and Austro-Hungarian armies fighting in the area. Explore mountain paths through Alpine meadows. Take mountain routes over rocky paths; discover deep gorges and spectacular waterfalls where for most of the year, you may be the only visitor.
There are also several routes linking beautiful, unspoilt villages either on the valley floor or on the mountain slopes. They often follow fast-flowing mountain rivers which will make their way to the Danube and the Black Sea. There is plenty here to satisfy all grades of walker.
We offer a choice of hotels on this holiday, the standard price is based on the 3 Star Hotel Tripic in Bohinj Bistrica with the possibility of upgrading to the 4 Star Hotel Jezero in Ribcev Laz.
Having worked with them on a trip in Northern Italy last year, I was confident they would deliver a great experience.
They did. From the quality of the hotels, included meals, the navigation app used down to the distances covered each day, everything was well thought out and first rate.
Along the way I met other walkers who’d used other companies. Every single one had a complaint about the company they used. I had no complaints and recommended them repeatedly along the route. I’m already making arrangements for an Italian walk next year with this company.

We had a great time on our walk. Everything went as described, including detailed information pre-tour, accomodation and luggage transfers. The Camino Norte was phenomenally beautiful although was harder physically than we had expected. It was our first multi-day trek and the more training you can do pre-trip (especially hills) the better. Day 2 was particularly hard but then your body adjusts and you get into a rhythm of the day. We are already planning our next trek.

This was a wonderful walk through the Italian landscape following quiet trails peppered with villages and ancient hilltop towns. The walking provides a sense of achievement with occasional long days and steep rocky trails.

Arrangements were all in order and hotel /restaurant choices were excellent and as described. The app works well (with the minor caveat that the details of the map disappear when you zoom in too close and when you go off track). We loved our walk on Costa Brava, because we could just focus on walking a truly gorgeous coast without any logistical worry.

The Maltese islands have played host to the Phoenicians, the Romans, the Knights of St John, Napoleanic and the British Empires whose influeces can be seen all over the island. The awe inspiring architecture is clearly evident, especially in the UNESCO world heritage site of Valletta, Malta's capital city. With so many rich and colourful traditions and excellent gastronomy, there is plenty to tantalise your tastebuds.
Based just outside Valletta in St Julian's, this holiday is perfectly flexible, use your 7 day bus pass to reach the start of the walks and take the bus back at the end and you can explore the best that Malta has to offer. We have suggested a 7 day itinerary for you, however you can take it at your own pace and walk where and when you want each day. Walk around Malta's 'fish tail' where the watch towers along the coast are evident of its history and where there are stunning views across to Gozo and Comino. Take time to enjoy nature at the Majjistral Nature Park and vist ancient tombs and relics along the way.
Being only 27km long and 14.5km wide you'll see plenty of breathtaking sea views in Malta, with dramatic sandstone cliffs, time worn salt pans and perfect fishing villages where the traditional and colourful Luzzo boats can be seen bobbing around in the bays. Enjoy the sites of the capital Valletta, the smallest capital in Europe and recognised as a UNESCO World Heritage site. It's full of narrow streets, impressive architecture, fountains and ancient city walls, however if you need a rest, there are plenty of cafes, restaurant and bars in which to stop and watch the world go by.
This single centre holiday is based in a quiet location, either at the Holm Hotel or the Hotel Verdi and on a B&B basis as there are so many excellent restaurants nearby for you to find the best spot for dinner. Valletta is also just a short taxi ride away should you wish to spend an evening in the capital.
The week starts inland in Droushia with walks to the Kremiotis Waterfall and the medieval Agia Paraskevi chapel as well as across the Laona Plateau with its picturesque stone-built villages. There's also the possibility of visiting a local winery. Enjoy fabulous panoramic views as you head towards the coast at delightful Lara Beach.
As your luggage is transported to the second hotel, you'll walk from Droushia to the Baths of Aphrodite cave, enjoying spectacular views of Cyprus's Northwest coast with the whole of Chrysochous Bay laid out before you, from the northwest tip of the island at Cape Arnaoutis, all the way to Pomos village in the northeast. Walk stretches of the Smigies, Adonis and Aphrodite Trails with stunning views from the Moutti tis Sotiras peak and enjoy a walk along the North coast, visiting some of the best beaches and coves including Fontana Amoroza, the Blue Lagoon, Manolis Beach and more.
Fantastic trip! Well organised and everything went smoothly. Would probably split the two big 30+ days if I were to have my time again. The heat adds another level of difficulty. Accommodations were all different but all clean and welcoming. Meals were varied as we walked into different regions the food changed to what was local. We never had a bad meal or a bad stay anywhere. Highly recommend this trip through France. A nice quiet Camino compared to the Frances but far more challenging. Very enjoyable.

We had a good time despite some rain for which I don't blame them! The hotels were all very different but nice and that was interesting. There was a good variety in the walks and things to see.

We really enjoyed our trip. All information was clear so didn't have any questions. Walks not very hard. Amazing views. Decent hotels. Clean. We left in the morning and came back in the evening. Hotel in Agerolo was lovely. Public transport was very confusing in Amalfi. No clear information where the bus stops. We had to to push to get on the bus with the third attempt.
Nearly missed stop in Pompey as all windows were in white dots and could not see passing stations. No screen or announcement. Use Google Map. We met lots of tourists from around the world in towns and had interesting conversations. I wish we had more time in Pompei and regret that we didn't hire a guide. The trip was a good combination of nature, history, cuisine, culture and people. I have to say in the last stay in B&B in Naples the receptionist Italian lady was wonderful. She didn't speak English so we used Google translate and it was an interesting experience. She hugged and kissed us as we were her best nephews. Such a lovely lady. It was interesting to talk with Antonio in Agerolo hotel. Great experience. Love Italy.
