My cousin Andy and I finally made our long-planned trip to Greece a reality, and finding a tour that also included a cruise and Turkey’s top sites was the icing on the cake. We’re so glad we booked this one!
Sun-kissed islands, ancient ruins, and crystalline waters—could there be a better way to explore Greece? The "Athens to Santorini" tour lets you discover the magic of the Cyclades over 8 leisurely days, beginning in the vibrant capital and culminating on the cliffs of Santorini. Glide across the Aegean Sea by local ferry, stopping at Syros, Delos, and other storied destinations.
This easy-paced tour package is perfect for those looking to immerse themselves in Greek culture and scenery without the rush. Uncover hidden archaeological sites, unwind on remote beaches, and soak in the relaxed island lifestyle. With comfortable hotel stays, included transport, and meals, you’ll enjoy a seamless journey through iconic and lesser-known gems alike.
A highlight of this trip is the balanced blend of sightseeing and free time, allowing you to savor every moment—whether that’s exploring ancient temples or watching a Santorini sunset. Ideal for travelers of all ages, especially those seeking a gentle yet enriching adventure, this tour stands out for its authentic island-hopping experience and stunning variety of landscapes.
Excellent trip, fantastic sightseeing with a great group and an excellent guide! The pace was full on but everything worth it . The lunch with a local family, the visit of the school and the dinner with a nubian family gave it a special touch and the overnight train journey was really good fun. The only downside was the poor heating in some of the hotel/cruise ship rooms, bring a woolly jumper to sleep in if you travel in winter! Our guide was fantastic, extremely knowledgeable, fun, though when it was needed and managed always to accommodate some last minute wishes:
The guides answered all my curious questions with great patience. This is a very important detail because this patience is not usually shown in tours with a rich itinerary like this tour. You deserve a big 5 points from me.
We spent 9 days covering a majority of the county of Egypt and touched on all of the major sites. Plus so many other things in between. Our guide, George Basher, was excellent. The itinerary was very organized as well. I would definitely recommend this trip to anyone, especially if George is their tour leader.
Greek Island Wanderer was just as described in the itinerary. Every day was fun packed and busy. The hikes we did were amazing but there was always an alternative if you didn't feel like hiking. The extra trips were fun
Our leader Christos, was amazing. He was knowledgeable and very helpful with any problem that arose.
This is a great way to explore the Greek Islands and I would highly recommend .
The “second day” the flight is SUPER early and you have to leave the hotel at 4 am.
That was not communicated anywhere and we didn’t arrive at the hotel u til after 11 pm the night before. It made the morning very difficult!
Also, it would be helpful if there was a place by the day noting if women needed to cover shoulders/knees or men knees. When I was packing and googling, it said that at Kom Ombo (and most of the temples) it was recommended to have shoulder and knees covered, but when we got there I was told we didn’t need it. I had a lot more pants packed then I needed and that would have been helpful to know when I actually needed to wear more conservative clothing or having my hair covered.
Overall the itinerary was good. We saw a lot and had a great guide!
We were on the Steinberger cruise ship - I would not recommend that one again. Very limited. We were on Thai ship with another group from Trafalgar that paid less for the tour and we had no extras. We allowed one drink at dinner and one bottle of water.. anything more we had to pay for. They didn’t have coffee/tea available throughout the day for free. It seemed like they were nickel and diming the guests. I have been on other River cruises and unlimited water, beverages at dinner, and feee coffee/tea throughout the day in the lounge was accessible.
