Loved this tour. Staying in Matera in the cave was a highlight and also staying in the Trulli house in Alberobello. Could have done without the farm visit, it felt like it was just filling in time. Would have preferred to visit Monopoli or similar. Same with the wine tasting. I think it’s such a waste to start the tour at 6pm, have a city tour in the dark then dinner. Much too late. Itinerary simply said meet at 6pm for welcome meeting then enjoy dinner with the group. Nothing about 2 hour walking tour of Bari. We already explored Bari on our own during the day because of how the itinerary was written. Otherwise I enjoyed it and would recommend.

Travelling in a small group with different abilities the trip gave us a great balance between manageable walks, urban experiences and self managed travel. Instructions for the walks were generally clear but some better formatting/design would be helpful. The booked transport was always punctual, well organised with helpful and friendly drivers. The hotels that were selected had a great atmosphere and evocative of the places we were staying. Their location in the heart of the historic towns was perfect making it easy for quick explorative trips. Puglia as a destination didn't disappoint and we would be very happy to return whenever we have the opportunity.

Scenery was unforgettable, people along the way were welcoming and most spoke English although we did try.

We wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Back Roads for a small group interesting tour. Our guide Sylvia was excellent looking after our needs and provided wonderful communication. Our driver was skilful and safe.
The accomodation was always interesting and comfortable. The towns were a highlight and staying two nights in several places was a real bonus. You need to be quite fit and able to manage steps and stairs comfortably.
