An excellent fortnight's overview of Japan's main island, in which we saw/ experienced a huge amount in the time available - ranging from modern cities to centuries-old gardens, temples and culture; snow monkeys and temple homestays (surprisingly comfortable and enjoyable), islands and the (very moving) Peace Museum in Hiroshima; markets and a wide range of Japanese food. Our tour guide was exceptional, too - immensely knowledgeable about both the history and the modern-day culture, and guiding us in a laid-back way through the marvels of the Japanese transport systems.

Our tour through Japan was a wonderful experience The sights, food, and people alike were all so memorable and brought us a great sense of the culture and history of Japan. Our tour guide Ken Igarashi gave us a great introduction to the sights of Tokyo and shared with us some of his vast knowledge and insight about historical events and landmarks, which was very appreciated. Our next tour guide, David Solanes, was a fantastic guide that went out of his way to explain the importance and impact of all the places we visited during our trip. His dedication to his work really shined through and made our tour one of the most unforgettable experiences of our lives. Definitely recommend having Ken or David as a tour guide

Next, take a ferry to Matsuyama, located on the island of Shikoku, where you visit Matsuyama Castle, one of Japan's few remaining original castles, and relax in Dogo Onsen, one of Japan's oldest hot springs and the inspiration for the famous Studio Ghibli film, Spirited Away. David Solanes was our guide and he was amazing, taking considerable care of everyones questions be they related to the tour events, free time or other aspects of the country, culture and travel. He provided excellent contextual overviews and made the experience for everyone fun and most enjoyable. He was great at getting everyone moving through the events without a lot of waiting on others... truly passionate about the tour stops and ensuring all had a great time.
The hotels and locations were convenient and generally quite good.
Visit and explore historical Hiroshima on the super-fast Shinkansen bullet train on this short but sweet 3-day tour that leaves from and returns to Osaka.
