A very interesting tour packed with variety, colour and contrasts. Some long driving days but always plenty to see. The city sights were magnificent, and I particularly loved the night on the Kerala backwaters, also Bandipur and the bird reserve. Seeing a tiger was the icing on the cake. Our guide Abhi went out of his way to ensure we made the most of every day.

A superb trip! Our tour leader, Inder was lovely, amazingly knowledgable and an incredible birdwatcher! He was always smiling, happy to answer any questions at any time of day however repetitive they were and went out of his way to make sure we were all enjoying our holiday. The trip ran very smoothly despite doing a lot in the busy itinery. It included visiting a great variety of things: tombs, forts, palaces, a camel ride, busy markets, temples, a boat trip a long the Ganges, tiger safari and wildlife/bird watching in Chambal nature reserve. We learnt a lot about Indian culture and different religions.
There was only one hiccup in the itinery. Our sleeper train from Agra to Varanesi was cancelled at short notice due to an accident between 2 freight trains. A completely unavoidable cancellation. Despite this Inder calmly and professionally sorted out an alternative for us (an extra night in a hotel and a coach trip the next day to Varenasi). Despite this we didn’t miss out anything in our busy itinery.
About 4 of the group of 12 were keen birdwatchers. Even though it was not an official birdwatching holiday Inder made sure we saw a huge variety of birds from babblers and flycatchers to an oreole, storks, Ibis, 3 different species of owl and the impressive indian skimmer. All in all we saw 87 different species of birds in India which was amazing! Binoculars are useful if you have them.
Thought i would say a few words about logistics on the trip. I had ben a bit worried about how we would have to keep buying bottled water to have on the trip (tap water is not safe to drink). I didn’t need to worry. A large container of water was brought paid for out of the tips money and we just accessed it throughout the trip whenever we had run out of water.
There were plenty of ATMs in all the towns and cities and generally we were excorted to them if we needed one. Most of the restaurants in the evenings (a group meal was organised every night for those who wanted it) took cash, credit cards or debit cards. It was useful having a bit of cash for lunch/coffee stops. Yes there were coffee stops! Some of the coach journeys were very long. There were plenty of stops to use the washrooms about every 2.5-3.5 hours or you just needed to say if you needed to stop. It was useful stocking up each morning with toilet paper in your pocket from each hotel as a lot of public toilets were out of toilet paper! Sorry my partner is saying I am giving too much information here!
It was a fun, jam packed holiday and Inder and the great group of people that we had helped to make it fantastic. This was our fifth explore holiday. They have all been good but this was our best yet! Can’t wait to go on our next Explore holiday! If you are thinking of going to India. just do it. You won’t be disappointed!

"This tour company organized my 10-day trip in India, which included visits through Delhi, Agra with the Taj Mahal, Ranthambore for a safari, Jaipur, and Varanasi. Overall, this felt like a perfect introduction to India, with each city offering completely different experiences in a concise manner. In addition, the tour operator offered additional options in each city that further tailored the experience based on individual preferences. Just a great, organized set-up where it felt that you were able to enjoy the cultural experience - while at the same time having the appropriate amount of time to refresh/reset for a holiday. The value/cost of the tour - from service, experience, hotels, etc - was great.
The entire tour was very well set-up from start to finish, and could not have been more happy with the entire experience. In every instance, there are experienced individuals to assist you in every aspect of the visit to avoid any confusion or lost time - from pick-up at the airport to private drivers to reputable tour guides. The private driver throughout the tour was a great, kind individual and felt very safe throughout the trip. Further, the tour guides selected by the tour operator were great. You could tell that this company had developed a very good niche in the market over time with hiring/selecting these individuals, given their vast experience and knowledge; in addition to their desire to answer all questions and hold good dialogue and conversation throughout the tour (everyone spoke very good English for Westerners).
Finally, the main contact points organizing and managing the trip were exceptional. They always available for any further assistance (even calling my upon arrival) - which all added to the personal touch of the experience. Also, in my case, I actually forgot some personal items on my trip back to India and they assisted with shipping back to me. You can very much tell that these individuals made huge efforts throughout to make the most out of this unbelievable experience. To both Mr. Azhar and Ms. Anu - thanks again for all the assistance throughout the entirety of the trip! Very much appreciated!"

Great trip covering highlights of Kerala.
Fabulous tour leader and support team.
The rides started easy and flat, and became progressively harder with increasingly longer hills as we headed into the mountains. The slow pace suited my ability. The spinning classes I did as preparation definitely paid off. The heat and humidity were challenging! Road conditions were better than expected.
The bikes could have been in better condition- the mechanic was great in sorting out issues on the way.
Most of the participants missed their various connecting flights arranged by Explore, including us! Arriving at 5am and having to be prepared to cycle at 8.30am wasn’t fun! Explore really need to consider this as I think it’s a regular occurrence!

"We had our tour with a private driver and locals tour guides at all four spots (Delhi, Agra, Ranthambore, Jaipur).
The driver was very professional so we felt always safe while we pass those chaotic streets of India. The tour guides were excellent too. They let us feel their passion.
We would recommend this tour to everyone who is thinking about India. It's a great mix of everything."

We have just returned from a great family holiday in India. Our Explore tour leader, Virender (Veeru) Singh was excellent. His depth of knowledge was outstanding and his unwavering enthusiasm really made our holiday. He was good company at meal times and always keen to know what he could do to make our trip even better. There were some lengthy bus trips to get to our destinations and he pointed out interesting things along the way to keep us engaged and entertained. He was really good with our twins too who sometimes got a bit tired and was very accommodating and helpful with whatever they needed to enjoy the trip. He took us to places we wouldn't have found on our own and every step of the way the organisation of our transport, tickets and luggage was seamless. Our driver was also excellent on what was sometimes challenging driving driving conditions and long distances.
