Great trip, beautiful walks and interesting guided tours in each place visited. Visiting over mid summer special. Some free time but a pretty packed itinerary. All very enjoyable
The luck was with my trip. Blue skies and no rain. Great hikes and interesting history and cultural information passed on by our leader, Donal. I appreciated the small group of 8. I have made a few suggestions to Donal in reviewing the walks. It was fortuitous that our leader could adjust timings and events as needed. It was an exceptional trip to share with my son. We both loved Northern Ireland.
Thanks to Rocio the wonderful guide, I am giving this holiday a 5 star review!! Her enthusiasm and passion for Portugal shone through, her knowledge on history and culture and all things flora and fauna was amazing, she was so interesting, fun and engaging and charming, as was Tania who joined the trip from the office in Barcelona. I particularly enjoyed the walking up in the hills, so green and verdant, lots of wild flowers….and the gorgeous orange and lemon trees were dripping with fruit. I loved the additional things like visiting the Monterosa Olive Oil producers, fascinating to hear and see how olives are produced and also the visit to the templar castle with fab views. The delicious lunch stop at Casa Merca with local cheese and a chorizo and pork chickpea stew was a treat! And visiting the local market at Olhao was fun! I would have preferred another days walking up in the hills rather than 2 days with walks along the beach….It was a plus for me that the holiday was centre based in Tavira as I really loved exploring the old town and its cobbled streets and finding delicious local restaurants to eat in, in the evenings!
A very good trip, well constructed with a mixture of activities so it wasn't all just walking.
I personally found that the description of leisurely to moderate rather understated. Otherwise the descriptions were good.
Traverse Italy by train, taking in the sights and delights of the country's most iconic cities. Explore the canals of Venice by boat and on foot, wander the food markets of Bologna and marvel at the sumptuous architecture of Florence. Immerse yourself in the vibrant street life and famous sights of charismatic Rome before heading to the sun-drenched region of Campania to explore the colourful Amalfi Coast, legendary ruins of Pompeii and mighty Mount Vesuvius towering over the Bay of Naples.
Rome - Spend two days in the Italian capital with time to explore the ancient Colosseum and Roman Forum.
Capri and Sorrento Peninsula - Witness la dolce vita in cliff-top Sorrento, with an optional visit to Capri.
Amalfi Coast - Walk the Path of the Lemons, soaking in the enchanting coastal views along the way.
This was my first trip with Explore but I hope it will not be my last. The trip was great, the food and accommodations were better than expected, and the guides were exceptional.
