Spring time in Amsterdam is already a banquet of dreams, with endless rows of tulips leading to traditional windmills, locals riding bicycles along pretty canals, and the city abuzz with the approach of Summer. But we're making it even better. Think cheese tastings, modelling a traditional clog, a locally guided Dutch bike ride through the streets of Edam and even visiting the famous Keukenhof for a view of the vibrant tulips. And you have yourself a very splendid Easter in Amsterdam.
Embark on a journey through the lesser-known regions of southern Poland and northern Slovakia and delve into the heart of the Carpathian Mountain Range. Over 8 days, we transition from Krakow and the rolling hills of the Lesser Poland Voivodeship to Slovakia’s castle-studded Spis region and the snow-capped peaks of the High Tatras. While the rides offer diverse challenges, the pace remains unhurried, allowing ample time to explore heritage sites, enjoy scenic hikes, unwind in old town squares, and savor wholesome meals.
Meeting in Krakow, the first stage of the adventure takes us through the Polish countryside of the Carpathian foothills and past the densely forested Gorce and Pieniny National Parks. Crossing into Slovakia via a pedestrian and bicycle-only path along the Dunajec River gorge, we venture onwards to spend two nights in the UNESCO World Heritage-listed historic town of Levoca. Here, we immerse ourselves in the captivating history of the Spis region, with a highlight being Spissky hrad, Slovakia’s largest castle and a medieval ruin to the nth degree! The tour’s final leg brings us into the High Tatras, Slovakia’s tallest mountain range and the crown jewel of the Carpathians. We bike against the backdrop of towering granite peaks and relax at a classic Slovakian wellness hotel on the shores of Strbske Pleso, a picturesque montane lake. The tour ends in Strbske Pleso.

On this bike tour, you’ll discover why Slovakia is affectionately known as the “Little Big Country.” From the towering Carpathian Mountains in the north to the farm-covered Danubian plains in the south, we ride on gravel trails through dense forests, climb over scenic passes, and enjoy quiet views of the rustic countryside. We meet by the scenic montane lake of Strbske Pleso and head west through the wilds of High Tatras National Park. Our route then takes us into the heart of Slovakia, cycling amidst a terrain of low-rising, forested mountains and pasture-filled valleys. We visit the isolated, historic village of Vlkolínec and spend a night in the town of Banska Stiavnica, renowned for its legacy of gold and silver mining during the Medieval and Renaissance periods. Both are UNESCO World Heritage Sites. A final downhill takes us out of the Carpathian Mountains and into the wide, open plains of southern Slovakia. We cross the mighty Danube and follow its course on the Hungarian side from Esztergom, home to Hungary’s most splendid Catholic basilica, to the glittering, stately capital city of Budapest. The tour ends in Budapest.
