The Pub Crawl! So named in the finest English tradition because in the old days and indeed not-so-old days, pub drinkers would stop off for a drink at as many pubs until they were crawling between venues. Whilst we won’t be this extreme, this traditional pub walk will visit some of the finest old pubs in London. Each one with a very different atmosphere and history, but all sharing a fine offering of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks in a wonderful historic building.
From the fringes of the East End, we will visit pubs in Clerkenwell and Farringdon before visiting some truly historic pubs in Holborn and Lincoln’s Inn Fields.
Pubs we visit include:
Viaduct Tavern: Recognised as one of the best historical pubs, this pub is built on the site of a former jail and still has five of the cells visible in the basement. Better be on your best behaviour then, so drink up!
The Castle, Farringdon: This refreshingly down-to-earth Farringdon public house was once frequented by King George IV, who was tempted in by a spot of cockfighting. Happily, the only poultry you may come across here now is in the delicious food that is served up.
The Crown Tavern, Clerkenwell Green: The lounge of this pub was once a noted music hall, perhaps this is what made it Lenin’s favourite boozer. In 1905 he met with comrade Stalin here in a meeting room upstairs. Its classic interior features mean that these days it is more likely to be used in television and films, maybe you will remember where you first saw The Crown Tavern over a pint.
Ye Olde Mitre: Built in 1546, Ye Olde Mitre is famous for having a cherry tree, (now supporting the front) that Queen Elizabeth once danced around. Set in a part of London steeped in history, it’s near where William Wallace was hung, drawn, and quartered at Smithfield.
The Seven Stars: Dating from around 1602, The Seven Stars backs on to the law courts and is a favourite haunt of lawyers, Church of England music directors and choir singers. It’s a cozy little pub inside with a quirky atmosphere along with a fine selection of drinks.
Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese: Situated near Lincoln’s Inn Fields and Holborn, this wonderful old pub proudly declares that it was rebuilt in 1667 following The Great Fire of London. Known to be the regular drinking spot of such names as Charles Dickens, Dr. Johnson, Mark Twain, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Alfred Tennyson and P.G. Wodehouse then this might be just the pub to have a wee dram in whilst concocting your next best-selling novel.
*Please note that not every pub listed is guaranteed to be open, in which case we will try and find a good alternative*

This private walking tour will transport you back to the dark and chilling world of the Whitechapel Murders in East London as we follow in the footsteps of the notorious and never-identified Jack the Ripper. This private tour (no crowds!) is the only tour that visits not just the location of every canonical Jack murder scene, but also several other key sites. During the tour, we will also learn about the myths and truths of Jack the Ripper and hear of the awful social conditions that the poor and ladies of Whitechapel had to survive in.
This tour is especially for those of you who want to do something different in London and don’t fancy walking Whitechapel at night or in a large group. Meeting you at your hotel or convenient tube station, we will either travel to Whitechapel or meet at Whitechapel Tube Station. Our private group will retread the cobblestones of the East End of London.
During the autumn of 1888, Jack the Ripper murdered at least five women. There were also several other horrendous killings before and afterward that may or may not have been carried out at the hands of the man voted "the worst Briton of all time". Whitechapel has changed a lot in the 126 years since Jack, who by luck, deviousness, and opportunity, wrought terror in the middle of the biggest city in the world and yet escaped time after time. However, much remains the same as well, and we will visit these landmarks of Whitechapel; the pubs that both Jack and his victims frequented, the lanes and alleyways where Jack stalked his victims, and the precise spots of some of these dastardly crimes. We’ll also visit the place where he left his only two clues which even now may be giving away his true identity.
We’ll learn what living in the East End was like in those days and visit what remains of Dorset Street, pivotal to the Jack The Ripper story and once the worst street in London and so bad that it now barely exists at all. See awful conditions that the residents, women and men alike had to endure. Discover the lucky breaks that Jack had and the misconceptions that the Police had of what the world’s first and still most feared serial killer would be like. Some of the buildings have changed; the streets may have new names, but the horror remains!
This one is for all fans and aficionados of one of the Greatest Britons of all time, wartime Prime Minister, Sir Winston Churchill.
This walking tour takes us around the streets of Piccadilly, St James and Westminster to places that were important in the life of Churchill. Everyone knows that Sir Winston Churchill loved his cigars, as well as various other vices, but we will visit the store which used to supply his cigars. Inside is a hidden treasure of London which was used by the great man himself. We will visit the home where Churchill lived as a young boy as well Downing Street where he lived as Prime Minister and see the church where he and Clementine were married in 1908. The tour ends outside the Churchill War Rooms which are perfectly preserved from the Second World War and from which Churchill ran the war whilst the streets through which we walked were regularly bombed by the Luftwaffe.
Tickets for the War Rooms are included along with an excellent audio guide to enjoy them.
