This was my first trip to Europe and I could not imagine experiencing it any better than on the 18 day EX tour. Although we only scratched the surface of many places it gave a wonderful perspective for places I want to come back to for further exploration. We covered a lot of ground in 18 days and made unforgettable memories. I was expecting to see beautiful things and have great experience but the relationships that formed within our group were an unexpected, and delightful, surprise. I'm so thankful I choose to do this tour and have recommended to all of my friends. I will definitely do another Expat tour when I'm able. Disclaimer; This is not a trip for those who want to kick back and relax. It was very active with many early mornings, late night and non-stop adventure days.
Lose yourself in three of Europe's most enchanting countries on this 15-day adventure from Barcelona to Rome. Arrive in the vibrant streets of Barcelona, then travel into the heart of the Spanish Pyrenees. Discover Provencal food and world-class wines as you frolic with Europe’s high rollers in the French Riviera, then feast on breathtaking sights in the cliff-top towns of the Cinque Terre. See master works of art in Florence and get your iconic pic at the leaning Torre de Pisa. Call into beautiful Siena before ending it all in the ancient city of Rome.
Overall it was a great vacation. The tour leader (Matt) was professional, knowledgeable and funny. The coach driver (Alex) was great too. They worked well together and gave a constant calm feeling to our group. Our leaders had a few obstacles to overcome and they handled them without us ever needed to worry. A few suggestions from Matt made our trip even better. We ate with different people each night, we rotated seats and made friends for a life time. Life changing experience.
Erwin as our tour leader and the group were great company. The tour was a combination of visiting amazing places together with a foodie experience.
Throughout the week, we had pleasure in indulging in delicious food, wines, cheeses and sweet treats of each of the areas.
Exploring Saint-Émilion and visiting Chateau Coutet winelands in an eco buggy was a memorable experience.
Our cooking class at La Savie with Chef Frédéric was an absolute highlight; we enjoyed making and eating delicious porcini mushroom risotto, the perfectly cooked duck breast with roasted vegetables and the most amazing Crème brûlée with spices.
Another highlight was visiting Rocamadour and walking the Chemin de Croix originating in the middle ages; this was truly inspirational and thought provoking.
The traditional cassoulet dinner in Toulouse was a perfect way to end a fantastic week!
The tour gave us the opportunity to visit unique places we would never have found on our own.
