Budapest, especially Pest has never been homogeneous – thinking of the all ethnic groups and the architecture. During the Habsburg times, there were more German-speaking inhabitants living in today’s downtown than Hungarians, let alone other nationalities. Later on the ratio changed, but all these different eras left their mark on the buildings. In one street you can see Classical, Art- Nouveau, Socialist style as well we few modern buildings. But buildings here are not made of stones, they are made of STORIES and formed by PEOPLE.
Sights included in this tour are:
St Stephen’s Basilica (interior + dome)
Parliament building (outside)
Opera house (outside and hall)
Andrassy avenue
House of Terror (outside)
Academy of Music
Heroes’ Square
Széchenyi bath
City Park
Danube bank
Shoe Memorial
Market Halls

Highlights of Bohemia has been my dream trip since 2019 (as my initial booking was cancelled more than once during 2020-2021 due to the pandemic and related social issues) and I'm so happy I was finally able to experience it. The trip was thoughtfully and wonderfully planned out. The coach travel was well-timed (with plenty of stops and even a couple of movies during the longer stretches). Having two nights for each hotel stay allowed the right balance of rest and travel. The itinerary was well-balanced between structured/ guided and free/ personal time and neither ever felt like too much or too little of either. The Tour Director was amazing in every way; extremely good at balancing and accomadating group and individual needs and, along with the Local Specialists provided global and local historical and social perspectives, as well as helpful suggestions for the best use of our free time. The drivers were safe and very helpful, and the coach was always clean and comfortable. Hotels were mostly centrally located, also allowing a better personal experience for those like me who enjoy wandering and enjoying local venues and persons.

was an excellent tour manager and he had a great sense of humor. The driver was amazing as he maneuver the coach in tight spaces. We had the right balance of “on the move” and free time. The cities we visited were unbelievably magnificent. It was the week before Easter. I enjoyed the Easter markets and got the Krtek I was looking for. The local guides were well chosen and augmented the history I had researched before going. Great trip. Would travel with again.

Loved the scenery, company, tour guide. I've learnt a lot and appreciate a good knowledgeable guide. I enjoyed every minute of the tour. A activity day 1 like a thermal pool would have been a great ice breaker.

You can encounter small local workshops in the downtown with delicate and quality art. Modern craftsmen/women and designers react to current trends and also differ from them dwelling on traditional motifs, patterns and methods. It’s a colourful world of textile, clothes, shoes, hats, accessories and last but not least perfume.
For example, you can enter a world full of secrets in the showroom of the “Hungarian Nose” aka perfumer, a young gentleman who was studying at the Versailles Perfume Academy and is creating scents for stars, businessmen, weddings etc. In his “hobby” showroom there is a selection of fine niche perfume from small manufacturers… You can also spend some time trying on unparalleled unique hats in a place where the simple word “hat” gains other meanings. Materials and shapes you wouldn’t imagine in your wildest dreams suddenly make you feel wearing hats is for you. And feel at home at the textile workshop, an association of various artists. Unique materials and techniques, vivid colours leave us amazed and with ideas for our own homes. These are just a few of the many places you can visit.
