I LOVED this trip!!! Everything about it was outstanding! Our travel companions were loads of FUN and our tour leader, Wit, was AMAZING! We became a 'group' rather quickly as everyone had a great sense of humor and an inquisitive mind which are two essentials for any exciting travel experience and we made new friends along the way that we’ll continue to keep in touch with. And what an experience it was!!! There was beautiful scenery; exciting history; night markets; excellent food; elephants; stunning temples; quaint villages; overnight train journeys; a beautiful homestay with traditional food; 2 nights in a raft house on the River Kwai, exploring an old city on bicycle; a journey on the Death Railway; a visit to the famous Bridge over the River Kwai; and I could go on and on!!! THIS tour was OUTSTANDING and I have to say I credit our wonderful guide, Wit, for sharing his culture and for being so personally sensitive to all our needs! I learned so much from him about the Thai people, their way of life, their spiritual beliefs, their history, and so much more!! He is an exceptional person…kind, caring, great sense of humor, humble, sensitive, professional, and, frankly he made the trip extra beautiful for me!!! He is a true gem! Journeys: Iconic Thailand was a fabulous experience!!! We had the most wonderful tour guide (shout out to Natthanan Chai Yenklom--the very best!!!!) who looked after every detail and made the experience comfortable and enjoyable for each person on the trip. I loved the varied activities--the home visit and cooking class in Chiang Mai; Ko Klang Island and Hong Island in Southern Thailand; and the amazing temples in Bangkok were particular highlights for me on the trip. I would do another National Geographic Journeys/G Adventures tour in the future!

This trip was the perfect balance. I’d always been curious about Thailand but I wasn’t looking for a beach holiday. I wanted a deeper connection, something that would help me understand the soul of the country. Thailand Odyssey delivered that and more. What stood out to me most was how thoughtful the experience felt. Nothing was overdone or overly “touristy.” Whether we were visiting temples, walking through old ruins, or floating past boats stacked with mangoes and steaming dumplings, it all felt genuine and grounded in place. The pace was just right. I never felt rushed and yet we saw and experienced so much. Some moments were vibrant and full of life, like drifting through the floating market or sharing meals at small, local spots. Others were more contemplative like taking in the quiet beauty of ancient temples or riding the train past green hills with history hanging in the air. Traveling in a little group made a real difference. We had enough time and space to connect with each other but also room for quiet reflection. The accommodations were comfortable, the meals were memorable (I’m still thinking about that green curry), and the logistics were smooth from start to finish. This isn’t a flashy tour. It’s not about luxury or checking off Instagram shots. It’s about slowing down, absorbing your surroundings, and returning home with stories that linger. If that sounds like your kind of travel, I can’t recommend it enough.

Surprisingly surprise. I took a Vietnam tour with this company before, and this time I chose an itinerary starting from Thailand. I have to say the quality remains just as excellent! We were concerned that my husband wouldn't have enough activity, but that wasn't the case at all. We were able to visit local villages, and go for walks or short hikes daily. It was wonderful.
