The trip entailed an easy 10km walk in the local national park situated in the foothills of Kathmandu. The drive to the start of our trek was only 1hour away, but it was a perfect way to escape to the countryside from the hustle and bustle of Kathmandu town. The campsite was perfectly set up and ready for our arrival, tents with beds and lighting and with a restaurant and bar which served the freshest food for lunch and then a lovely bbq in the evening. In the morning we had a few snowy mountains to greet us for breakfast and then after a short walk to the local village, we were then served lunch before out transport took us back down to Kathmandu.

Upper Mustang trekking offers an unrivaled opportunity to explore Nepal’s most mysterious and least-traveled kingdom. Known as the "Forbidden Kingdom," Mustang is a land of mountain deserts, ancient caves, and a rich, resilient culture preserved by centuries of isolation. Trekking here feels like stepping into Tibet, with its arid landscapes, walled cities, and unique heritage.
The route to Lo-Manthang, Mustang’s heart, is moderately demanding but accessible, especially since the area receives little rain—even during monsoon season. Trekkers are limited to 13 days in this restricted region, ensuring a sense of exclusivity and preservation.
The unique selling point of this tour is its blend of breathtaking desert scenery and living history. For experienced travelers or young adults eager for a cultural adventure, Upper Mustang provides a magical glimpse into a world untouched by modernity.
For those who want to explore the Himalayas without sacrificing comfort, the "Everest View Luxury Lodges Trek" offers a blend of adventure and indulgence. Stay in some of Nepal’s finest lodges while trekking through the Khumbu region, enjoying breathtaking views of Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, and more. Visit the historic Tengboche Monastery and walk through blooming rhododendron forests, cascading waterfalls, and the UNESCO-listed Sagarmatha National Park. Along the way, immerse yourself in Sherpa culture by visiting villages like Monjo, Namche Bazaar, and Pangboche. The unique selling point: this tour combines the raw beauty of Himalayan trekking with the luxury of premium accommodations, making it ideal for travelers who value both adventure and comfort.

The accommodation was just as advertised, the boat was very well presented, clean and excellent facilities. Very pleased with the room. I woke up on the second morning to find they had been up all night and replaced the carpets in some of the public areas!!?
The dining area was a lovely place to sit and eat, the food was fabulous, and lots of it too.
You kind of expect good service, but the staff on board were exceptional and such good fun too, singing and dancing behind the bar 🙂 Tequila (his name!) went out of his way to make sure everything was alright.
I would definitely recommend this trip and also for 2 days. The second day is full of things to do and you're also away from the really busy tourist bits that can only sail so far for one night onboard. I will book again when I return, its fabulous.
