Our trip to Gokyo Lakes and the Renjo La Pass was amazing!
Anand, our lead guide was great - always looking out for everyone to make sure each person was doing ok and enjoyed their experience. The rest of the staff - the cooks, porters and other guides, all helped ensure we had a great time.
The food was something else - it was amazing to see just what could be made each day.
This was our first trip with World Expeditions, but I certainly hope it won't be our last!

I used this local operator for a solo climb expedition of Chulu West in the Annapurna Region (6419m Peak)
Khum and Krishna at the office did a great job in setting everything up and communication during the expedition was easy, fast and efficient.
The logistics were taken care of without any major hiccups.
This expedition is quite an undertaking with setting up both a base camp on around 5000m and a High Camp around 5600m, but everything went smoothly.
The absolut highlight were the guides:
- the general guide Bishnu who knows the Annapurna Area inside out
- the climbing guide LakCha who is extremely competent and knowledgeable about all aspects of high altitude climbing
I cant praise the guides enough and would urge you to request them specifically for any high altitude climbs !
We had a great successful summit day with amazing weather and reached the summit in record time just for sunrise !
I give this operator and Bishnu and LakCha my highest recommendation !
A big thank to our guide Samda and the team (especially Ram who fed us well) and provided us with an excellent cultural and trekking experience. Samda's knowledge of Tibetan culture and the history of the monasteries provided a complete background to the history and culture of Mustang and its relationship to Tibet. Being present for the three crowded days festival was special and a complete juxtaposition to the following days trek through the stark and beautiful landscape of Mustang. We were treated to vistas of the distant snow capped mountains, alpine flowers up high, sheep and goat herders and even managed to find fossils left behind in the ancient raised seabeds pushed up with the Himalaya range. Mongolia is a stunningly beautiful country. Miles and miles of vast open vistas, dotted with the occasional ger and nomad herds of animals. The Gobi desert was fascinating, including a visit to the place where the first dinosaur eggs were discovered! We visited many interesting and fabulous places, including several beautiful Buddhist temples. Wherever we went, the people were charming and very hospitable. The Eagle Festival was a spectacle I will never forget, with 120 eagle hunters competing to win the honour of being the champion. Dressed in their finest traditional clothing, riding their sturdy horses at speed, they called their massive golden eagles down from the rocky hillside to land on their arm.

I recently completed the Manaslu & Tsum Valley trek, and it’s safe to say it was one of the most rewarding and culturally rich experiences I’ve had in the Himalayas.
From the start, the communication with the company was clear, prompt, and reassuring. They helped tailor the itinerary slightly to suit my pace and interests, and everything from permits to logistics was handled smoothly—which is no small feat in such a remote region.
Our guide, was fantastic—not only knowledgeable about the trails, villages, and cultural nuances, but also genuinely caring and adaptable. He struck the perfect balance between giving us space to take in the environment and stepping in when needed (especially during the tougher parts of the trail).
The trek itself is stunning but not for the faint-hearted. Compared to more well-known routes like Annapurna or Everest, this one feels wilder and less developed, which was exactly what I was looking for. The trails wind through deep gorges, suspension bridges, serene monasteries, and small villages that still feel untouched by mass tourism. Tsum Valley in particular felt incredibly special—like stepping into another world, with its Tibetan-influenced culture and timeless pace of life.
Accommodation was understandably basic in many places, but my guide chose the best available tea houses and kept me and the others well-fed and comfortable. Even during the colder nights at higher altitudes, we always felt looked after.
Overall, this trek was physically demanding, culturally immersive, and emotionally grounding. It’s not your typical tourist trail, and that’s exactly why I’d recommend it—and especially go with a reputable company —to anyone seeking a more authentic Himalayan adventure. In a safe way!
