After three years of back 2 back beach vacations, I was ready for something different and Morocco was it in every way. The itinerary flowed seamlessly taking us from the wide boulevards of Casablanca to the Roman ruins of Volubilis, the alleys of Fez and the dunes of the Sahara.
Our guide, Layla, was phenomenal. She was warm, endlessly knowledgeable, and the kind of person who anticipates questions before you even ask. She brought every stop to life, whether we were walking through the historic Medina of Fez or standing in awe before the architectural marvel of the Hassan II Mosque.
One of my personal highlights was the Todra Gorge. As someone who’s hiked canyons in Arizona and Utah, I can honestly say this was even more dramatic. It had sheer walls that glowed orange in the sun and a stillness that felt almost sacred. The camel ride to our desert camp in Merzouga was unforgettable. Watching the sun dip below the dunes, then sharing dinner and music under the stars with fellow travelers made for a night I’ll always remember. You can say it was a beautiful moment to be cherished forever.
