Holland evokes visions of winding canals, colourful tulip fields and charming wooden clogs. Of course, no visit to Amsterdam is complete without a cycling or walking tour; but the country’s other cities are equally beautiful. The Hague offers beautiful views of the Northern Sea and some fascinating museums, while Rotterdam is known across the continent for its impressive modern architecture. View our Holland tours below.

Holland Tour Reviews

Honest insights from past guests on our Holland tours

Teresa C. | Traveled in August

This tour was very enjoyable. Staying at each destination for two or more days was a lot easier than having to pack up every night. Locations we visited were more varied than other Trafalgar tours I’ve taken which was also appreciated. I especially enjoyed the canal boat rides and the beautiful bridges and flowers. But the best part of our tour was our tour director . She went out of her way to make each and every guest feel comfortable and welcomed. She accommodated individual needs with grace and humour which helped make this trip a lovely experience. She’s a Trafalgar gem and will be a tough, tough act to follow!! Would love to travel with her again anytime!

The itinerary included history and important facts concerning where we where. The specialist tour guides were all very knowledgable and pleasant. They made each site interesting. There was also fun things to do at many sites. The trip was well balanced snd the people involved were great.

Robyn B. | Traveled in August

The Tour Director, added so much value to this trip. His deep knowledge of the history of each place we visited was so valuable. His advice on what to see and where to go in our free time was spot on. I don’t believe this trip would have been as incredible and beyond my expectations without . The detailed planning that went into ensuring every day was simply special was amazing. What an awesome asset Trafalgar has!!

Linda C. | Traveled in August

We loved the drives through country roads and the beautiful scenery. The variety of optional excursions was well-planned and appealed to nearly everyone on the tour. We felt it was a well-balanced itinerary with plenty of time on our own for shopping and dining and exploring. We never felt rushed and departure times were not too early and evening activity arrival times were not too late. Having 2 or more nights at each hotel made it a more relaxed trip.

Megan M. | Traveled in August

Our tour guide was awesome. Our bus driver was lovely. And the bus was comfortable. We were fortunate enough to have an awesome group to travel with. The sites we visited were amazing. The food we ate was delicious. The hotels were pretty good. Our experience was wonderful.

This was a short tour but worth every penny. Had great experiences and once again a great tour director with a lot of knowledge of history who made everything fun. An accommodating driver again just a great experience. Highly recommend using Trafalgar.

Holland Tours - Highlights and Travel Trips

Holland, most call it The Netherlands, is famous for mixing the old world with the new. It is one of those few countries which seamlessly manages to mention words like old windmills and futuristic architecture in the same breath. When you are on a holiday in Holland you certainly have an exotic nightlife and inspired dishes to look forward to, but you also have candlelit dinners, historic stores and artistic masterpieces to choose from.

Tour Highlights

  • Cycle along the canals of Amsterdam
  • See the colourful windmills of Zaanse Schans
  • Visit the tulip festival at the Keukenhof flower gardens in Lisse
  • Wander the fairytale gardens of Kasteel de Haar
  • Walk through the secret annexe of the Anne Frank House
  • Wander the car-free paths and canals of Giethoorn village
  • Pour a beer at the Heineken Experience
  • Do a night canal cruise during the Amsterdam Light Festival

Travel Tips

  • If you’re looking for your morning coffee, you won’t find one in a ‘coffee shop’. Coffee shops are for cannabis, while cafes are for coffee.
  • Buy tickets in advance and arrive early for the popular tourist destinations in Amsterdam, especially the Anne Frank House and the Van Gogh Museum.
  • The Dutch have a bit of a reputation for being rude, but this is simply because they are very direct. Do not be surprised if a local offers you constructive criticism, or asks a question you might consider personal.
  • “Going Dutch” is (perhaps unsurprisingly) very popular in Holland. If going out with locals, expect to pay for your own drinks and food - they will do the same. Buying a round is not typical.
  • Prepare for a very cheesy trip. The Netherlands are known for their cheese. Be sure to visit the cities of Gouda, Edam and Alkmaar to try some of their namesake cheese.

Holland has seasonal weather so please do check up on best time to visit Holland before planning your tour.
