San Jose Bicycle Trips

An excellent way to explore Central America on two wheels—what a ride! I loved every segment of the tour. Just a heads-up: you’ll need more than basic cycling skills… and a truckload of grit. Some of the dirt roads, especially the downhills, are the kind that make you suddenly remember every loved one you’ve ever had. Definitely not for the faint-hearted. About the hotels: a few of the one-night stays were… let’s say “character-building.” The stop in Turrialba in particular did not meet even basic standards. Explore, you can do better—please save future cyclists from that experience. Now, about our tour leader, Mike. After ~15 tours across ~20 countries, I’ve finally had a tour led by a real pro athlete. And wow—what a difference. Mike’s professionalism, enthusiasm, ocean-level patience, and that trademark toothy smile made even the toughest (undualating😄）climbs feel manageable. He set the bar so high that my future tours may need oxygen just to reach it. Absolutely recommended. And if you’re lucky enough to get Mike, prepare to have your expectations ruined—in the best possible way.

Great all around trip. The guide (Jeff) was organized, attentive and fun to be around. Briefings each day were informative and useful. The food was excellent, camp sites were good. The rafting was very exhilarating. The equipment was in good condition and they were prepared for mishaps. We had bike chain break but they had spare bike readily available. You could push yourself as hard or as easy as you felt comfortable.

The trip was well rounded with as much (or little) action as you like and I loved all of it. The group was great and we had a lot of fun together. Our CEO was very knowledgeable and fun to be around. I would recommend it to everyone who is looking for a couple of active weeks in Costa Rica!

It was my first G Adventures tour. What fabulous way to explore and see the best sites Costa Rica has to offer. I look forward to another soon and being part of the G Adventures family again.

My first (and definitely not last) G Adventures trip was just incredible. It was great to experience so many different sides to Costa Rica, guided by an amazing CEO. The bang for you buck in terms of time and experiences is great for someone who's looking to take a back seat in the planning but still have an authentic trip which ticks all the must dos and then some. The connections and friends you make on the trip is the cherry on top, it was such a lovely mix of people who had great stories to tell. Already looking at booking my next one, pura vida!

We had a great adventure traversing Costa Rica from the Pacific coast to the Carribbean coast. Our guide Carlos was excellent - our safety and well being together with getting the most out of this experience was his highest priority. His knowledge of the flora and fauna and local culture in the areas we travelled through enabled us to fully appreciate the beauty and uniqueness of Costa Rica . His wingman Vito made the transition from various activities effortless. As an added bonus both he and Carlos were excellent cooks! We had a great experience and would recommend the trip to others.
