I just finished the 13 day Japan tour with Dan as group leader. This was my first Intro trip and I booked on to another whilst there! The tour was amazing, with a good mix of different places, activities and free time. Dan was extremely knowledgeable, made sure we had everything we needed and always brought the energy. I highly recommend this trip, I only wish I could have Dan as my group leader for future tours.

A great tour with amazing guides First of all, I want to thank Nadia, Kiku, Ken, and Pablo for all the detailed explanations, valuable insights, and the support and recommendations they provided throughout the trip. It was also very appreciated that explanations were always given in both English and Spanish—this made the experience much more inclusive and enjoyable for everyone. The tour covered excellent spots, with well-located hotels close to subway stations, which made everything more convenient. The buses were clean, and the drivers were all very careful and courteous throughout the journey. All the included meals were delicious and generously served. Overall, it was a truly pleasant and memorable journey. Thank you for such a wonderful experience

Back Roads of Japan was well-organized and seamlessly operated. Izumi, our amazing tour guide handled all the details with grace and efficiency, making our travel planning stress-free. She provided insights into local culture, history, and geography, enhancing the overall experience. This tour covered exploration of two big cities, Tokyo and Kyoto, as well as visiting smaller sites for hiking, cycling and cultural immersion. Visits to Buddhist temples and Shonto shrines were fascinating. Indulging in a variety of Japanese food was a highlight of the trip.

Just finished the 13-day Japan tour and had an amazing time! Dan was our group leader, and he made everything feel easy, fun, and informative. He was always thoughtful, super knowledgeable, and brought great energy to the group. Thanks to him, we got to experience Japan in a really memorable way!

We just finished the 13 day Japan tour with Dan as our group leader. This was our first Intro trip and will not be the last! The tour was amazing, with a great group, and we had a great time. The itinerary is great with a good mix of places and activities. Dan was extremely knowledgeable about all things Japan, and he went over and above to make sure that we had everything we needed and got us everywhere on time. I highly recommend this trip, and if your group leader is Dan you will be in great hands!

This tour does not match the level of quality I experienced in the exceptional Peru Panorama or Morocco Kasbahs and Deserts. I will not be recommending Korea to Japan: Epic Eats & Bright City Lights to anyone as the best parts of our stay in South Korea and Japan was when we were not with the group. The hostels were subpar, the fact that there were no meals included in Japan is unacceptable when 'Epic Eats' is literally in the title of the tour we signed up for, and the included meals in South Korea did not showcase the best of the country's cuisine. My husband and I had three sushi restaurant experiences in Japan and the one that was selected by the tour was by far the worst of the three and it wasn't necessarily cheaper than the second best. In Jeju Island, we opted to leave the group potluck so that we could experience real local black pork and it was one of the best meals we had. During my time in Peru and Morocco, it would have been unthinkable to have preferred to leave the group meals but in this case, we had to seek out the culinary experience that the tour promised but did not deliver. There was so much free time during the tour that we might as well not have done the tour. We were so excited about this trip and the people we might meet but it was incredibly disappointing. Grouping people who sign up for different tours is a terrible idea. It created a great deal of discord as everyone had different expectations of the trip and no one was ever satisfied with the optional group activities. We also sped through many of the locations my husband and I had been dearly anticipating visiting. The group was entirely too large and on two occasions, I was made responsible for the safe travel transit of the group (once in South Korea and the second internationally having to guide my fellow group members from arrival in Gimpo, switching terminals, and arriving in Haneda Airport) which I did not sign up for nor receive compensation for. This tour was good enough for people who want a superficial cultural engagement with the countries they visit, who want to party, get drunk, and barely remember where they have been. This is not what a G Adventures experience is supposed to represent. The tour did not do justice to the countries we visited, I'm relieved that we had scheduled our own time in South Korea and Japan before and after the tour - that is when the true cultural engagement happened during our trip.
