Reviews of our Havana Tours for Spring
Feedback from guests whose tour started in/around Havana during Spring.
Great experience with excellent guide. Loved the itinerary, torch and power pack essential items. Did not need to exchange money into Cuban, US dollar and Euros taken in tourist location.
Great insight into the country, culture and key sights. Our guide Edelso brought the trip to life with great recommendations and knowledge. Overall a very memorable time. Would highly recommend.
Both the tour leader, Ernesto, and the bus driver, were exceptional. Ernesto was one of the best tour leaders we have ever had, full of information and always helpful. Bus driver was a very safe driver, and also engaged with the tour group.
Wow! What an adventure! As always cycling is a wonderful way to immerse yourself in a country! Every day we saw a different side to Cuba, and every day Cuba surprised me! The lack of reliable power, internet, limited food options (cabbage every meal!) and sometimes even no water, was occasionally challenging but this was always outweighed by the friendliness and resilience of the Cuban people; there was always a Plan B! Arley, our tour leader, was clearly very experienced and had a good command of the English language. He went out of his way to ensure we understood the history and complexities of the place. Everything went super smooth and that was down to Arley, Daniel the mechanic and Joel the driver. A great team! Don’t expect to cycle fast, the conditions of the roads were very poor and we had to cycle slowly both up and down the undulating terrain, due to the potholes and the uneven road surfaces. Cuba is a country with many problems and a difficult economy but somehow Cubans get by with their resilience, music, salsa, sunshine and a little bit of rum!
The Explore tour was very good and our experience was heightened by the knowledge and helpfulness of our tour guide, Joan Alvarez. The only difficult experience was our stay at a Casa Particolares which was not really set up properly for guests.
The trip was very enjoyable. It gave a good insight into how the country operates. The tour guide was excellent, he was very helpful and friendly and was gave lots of interesting information about the country. The country seemed very safe. The coach and driver used for the trip were both of a high standard. All of the people we met were very friendly as well. You do need to go with an expectation that some of the infrastructure does not operate as you would be used to in other countries. There may not be electricity or water for a few hours each day. The hotels and guest houses are not the same standard as at home. We were pleasantly surprised at the quality of the food we head. The choices available were fairly limited but all of the meals we had were very enjoyable. The food was fresh and cooked to a high standard. Paying for things in restaurants and shops was confusing but you soon get used to how things work and adapt. Take cash with you in euros or dollars and do expect to be able to use credit cards. We would definitely recommend the trip but just go with a relaxed attitude and take things as they come.
