We had a very happy tour group of 8, ranging from about 63 to 70 years. The trails were challenging and technical and very beautiful. Our guide Albi B. was amazing. Alibi’s command of English was very impressive and he was easily able to communicate with our group. His knowledge of history and local folklore kept us very informed and entertained. The transfer vehicles were always on time. The local food was farm to table- very fresh and healthy. We had 3 vegetarians in our group and they seemed quite satisfied with their meals. The accommodations were quaint and rustic, as expected, and we wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. The tour was a unique way to explore the Albanian alps.

What a great trip! Full on. Some long days. But what a way to tick off things on your bucket list. The accommodation was as expected, mixed: querky, comfortable and, at worst, indifferent. Eating out was excellent and not too expensive. We chose the trip because of the itinerary, which was brought to life at every stage by our guide who was one of the best we have had on any trip. I would recommend it to anyone interested in Spain and its fascinating history.

Our guide Zaffer was extremely knowledgeable and made the talks inter sting by telling us about the everyday lives of the people at the archaeological sites. I would have liked an overnight stop at Konya to see the Whirling Dervishes perform. Zaffer did his best and booked us a demo at local hotel at Pamukkale but the room was very crowded and it didn't feel authentic.

All aspects of trip organisation were fine. The group leader was fantastic, extremely knowledgeable hand always smiling. The trip is full on, mainly with one night in each hotel. The hotels are OK but many have things broken in the rooms and bathrooms with little ongoing maintenance. This trip gives you a good overview of each country and knowledge of its history.

Then this is for you. I had a great time on this trip. Had a full day in Sienna and a nice orientation tour of Florence (I spent a few extra days) Plus to get to visit lesser known towns that the big companies overlook. My favorite was Pienza. A nice little town that also had my favorite hotel and great places to eat. And yes, we tasted wonderful Italian wines, as well as the best cold cuts and cheeses I’ve ever tasted. And did I also mention hiking to wineries and hill towns? Wonderful sights, with spectacular views. One hike it rained towards the end, but that didn’t dampen our spirits.

Explore is getting worse and worse regarding customer service. If it wasn't for trips offered and mostly excellent tour leaders, would never recommend to friends. One option to better relationship would be to refund single supplement to anyone who is obviously not going to be paired off on a tour where all couples or different sex. Explore should be more considerate considering the profit margin on solo travel.
