With just four days it is possible to discover the cultural treasures of Bucovina and Transylvania. In Bucovina, Romania’s Orthodox heritage is revealed through the eight UNESCO-listed monasteries that are sprinkled across the hills of the region. Dating to the 15th and 16th centuries, the painted frescoes recall some of the most famous scenes from the bible and feature portraits of saints. The monasteries are true masterpieces of Byzantine art. In Transylvania, Romania’s Saxon heritage is evident in the citadels and fortified churches which date to the late Middle Ages. Biertan and Viscri are standouts among the seven UNESCO-protected villages of the region. Incredibly well-preserved, these villages are places where it feels as if time has stood still. Itinerary #2: Explore Blue Danube

Day 3 Spend the day on the Danube Delta—kayak, bird watch or take a cruise Outdoor adventure
Day 4 After breakfast transfer to Tulcea where your journey ends

A vast maze of marshes, lakes, dunes and reed islands, the Danube Delta is Europe’s largest remaining and best preserved wetland. The delta is rich in wildlife — wild horses, wolves, otters, boar and wildcats all reside here, but it’s the 300+ species of birds that are the draw for many. Keen birders will be on the lookout for White and Dalmatian Pelicans, Pygmy Cormorants and the increasingly rare Ferruginous Duck. The Letea Forest is another highlight of the region and is home to magnificent 500 year old trees and one of the best places to see wild horses. The region is dotted with traditional villages, offering a unique glimpse into the past. The town of Sulina sits at the mouth of the Danube Delta on the Black Sea and has a rich maritime history of pirates, merchants and sailors. Sulina is a great base for a short exploration of the delta and if you need some down time you can relax on the beaches of the Black Sea.
