The Balkans are an under-appreciated part of the world and are absolutely stunning. Well worth the visit, especially for those who have traveled all over the world. The tour director was fluent in the local languages as well as English and extremely knowledgeable about the entire region. He kept the tour organized and yet flexible. The local guides were uniformly excellent, fluent in English, and knew more about their cities than they could convey.

I wish Goran were my Travel Director for every organized tour. Goran’s professionalism is second to none. He is exceptionally experienced and possesses extensive knowledge of both the Balkan region and travel in general. Throughout this long journey, he did everything one would expect from a travel director — and more. He consistently communicated activities clearly, both verbally and in writing, and thoughtfully reminded tour members of important details at every stop. Goran’s knowledge and personal stories about the Balkans made this trip truly unforgettable. We even nicknamed him “Prof. G.” Prof. G provided insightful background information — through both his talks and carefully selected, relatively neutral documentaries — for each country we visited. His explanations of the region’s complex history brought clarity and context to much of what we later saw and heard from the local specialists. Goran is also an incredibly caring person. I truly believe he went above and beyond to ensure that everyone had a smooth, enjoyable, and memorable experience.

I had a terrific holiday as I always do on my Explore trips. Everything about the holiday was enjoyable, the holiday included a nice mix of sights, scenery, towns, countryside and history. I enjoyed travelling with our group, everyone was good company, we had lots of chat and many good meals together. Our tour leader Horea was excellent, he is so knowledgeable about his wonderful country. He was always good humoured, he was always able to answer our many questions, he organised restaurants for us and he looked after us in a relaxed professional way ensuring everything went smoothly. Our driver, Stefan, was excellent too, we were in safe hands with his driving each day.

Rux was a superb tour guide, so knowledgeable, entertaining, enthusiastic and caring. She really looked after us and went the extra mile to cater for everyone. She made the tour and is an excellent ambassador for Explore.

Brilliant long weekend, the highlight being seeing 3 brown bears ! Amazing experience! The pace was full on, with long days and lots of walking, but this was stated in the itinerary, so there were no surprises there. Our leader, Rux, was fantastic, booked us into lovely restaurants. Her knowledge of the Romanain Royal Family and the histories of all the castles we visited was amazing!! Top marks for retaining all that knowledge!!

The trip to Romania was amazing. Highly recommend. Razvan and Geo were great. Our safety, enjoyment and comfort were their priority at all times. I was a bit worried about dogs running out at us but 90 % of them weren't interested , and with the few that were, Razvan and Geo knew just how to deal with them and they shooed away easily. We learnt a lot about Romanian social and political culture and visited some great places on the itinerary. If you have an extra day in Bucharest I recommend the outdoor museum , allow the best part of a day for this.
