It goes to a great range of places, each with their own unique history. The sites visited are all amazing and worth seeing. The people in each place are welcoming and proud of their history.
The itinerary includes all important towns and events, the cathedrals and the Count's private home are only two of the historical items to mention. The Unesco sites are an important part of the tour itinerary. It seems that on this tour Everyone took park in the optional events, so I think that's important to keep as well. Ernesta F. included extra information which is one of the reasons we travel with Insight. She was very prepared each day and actually several days ahead Ernesta filled everyone in with what we were doing and how long it would be. Driver Antonio handled the bus exceptionally well and was so polite. It is a good idea to include prepaying the director and driver in the Insight tour fee, then if we wish to over and above donate it's good for them too. I noticed another bus had water on board to sell- I know that Insight prefers we have non-plastic reusable bottles, but sometimes we forget. Especially in the hot summer/fall tours. I think they were stored with the luggage--would this be a good idea?
Well paced. Busy but time to rest and do your own thing. Local guides were awesome and tour director was top notch! Food was great too and I’m from an Italian background.
I had never been to continental Europe before and only had a week to spare so wanted to see as much as I could in that time without being so rushed that I didn't have time to experience things properly. I chose the European Traveller tour because it went to 5 cities with two nights spent in both Paris and Rome for a bit of a break from travelling between cities. The tour was even better than I was expecting. The itinerary was really well planned with a lot of sights and sites covered over the course of the tour, and the guided walks by the local specialists and the visits to artisan shops were very good. Our travel director Pete also provided excellent commentary on both the bus trips and the walks on everything from history to art to culture and more which really enhanced the tour. There were also opportunities to spend a few hours on your own in some places doing your own thing which was nice. The optional experiences were all fabulous and I would totally recommend doing as many of them as you can. The choice of cities visited was perfect for me as an introduction to some of the most well-known cities in Europe in Paris, Venice, Florence, and Rome, and although not so well-known, Lucerne was beautiful. In order to cover so much ground there was quite a bit of driving but I enjoyed this as well, as the countryside we drove through was beautiful and it was exciting going through all the tunnels in the alps. Our driver was very good and the bus was very comfortable with good visibility from all seats. The hotels were all of a good quality and most nights our luggage was delivered to and from our rooms and loaded on and off the bus for us. We had a really good group of people on my tour who all got on well and had great senses of humour. Pete was a very well organised travel director who made each day run seamlessly. I would thoroughly recommend the European Traveller tour to people who haven't been to Europe before and are short on time.
The itinerary includes a number of UNESCO World Heritage sites, all very interesting. Aside from the day travelling to Sicily, there was lots of time to sight see with the local guides. Lunch breaks were never rushed with plenty of time to eat, enjoy local wines and/or shop. The optional tours were well organized and interesting. The optional dinners were fabulous and several times included as many as 14 different dishes. The Masseria farm to table dinner held under a vine covered trellis was particularly memorable.
My wife and I took this trip with the expectation of experiencing Italy. You did not disappoint. We went to may places, did a lot of walking, and got to see many historical landmark. This was our second Trafalgar trip and we'll take another. Our tour guide ********** had outstanding knowledge of each city we visited and even some along the way that were not on our itinerary. Great job!!
