Cappadocia Tours and Trips
The land of fairy chimneys and colorful hot air balloons, Cappadocia is an enchanting place to explore in Turkey. Located in the central Anatolia region, Cappadocia lies on a rugged plateau famous for its otherworldly landscapes. While the most popular Cappadocia tours involve taking a hot air balloon ride, you will find plenty of other fun things to do in this picturesque region. You can, for instance, explore the underground cities, visit open-air museums, or sleep in cave hotels.

Walking in Cappadocia is the perfect way to explore this unique and special landscape. Walking between rock formations made by a volcano eruption 10 million years ago was an incredible experience. We also enjoyed eating at the different restaurants in Göreme and at the village restaurant. I would recommend the casserole rather than the manti. We also enjoyed a sunny afternoon in Avanos searching for that perfect pot! Our guide Aykut was knowledgeable and good fun. I loved it all.
What a fantastic trip. This is our second walking-type trip with Explore and is was just as well run and thoughtfully designed as the previous one. The trip pace was as I expected based on the description - lots of daily walking, with a little down time for exploring or relaxing in the evening (or morning, if you are a morning person). Most days we started hiking or driving to hiking location at 9 am and finished between 3-5 pm. I really appreciated that the tour leader (Aykut) had a lot of experience and was able to shift around activities to avoid crowds. He was really good at explaining what to expect for the next day (and several days in advance, where relevant) so that we could plan for bringing/not bring our hiking poles, packing extra snacks or water if we weren't going to be near a town, dress for the next day's weather, etc. I do think having the hiking poles was helpful for many of the days, so I am glad I brought them. A few days we stopped for a mid-day break at a location with restaurant options, one day was limited to one option (in a national park: but really, really good food for the sole option), and a few days we packed picnic lunches. If you are thinking about doing this tour, and like walking (moderate level most days, with some hills and some downhill and flat stretches), and love really unique scenery and history, I would highly recommend this trip.
Unusual for an Explore trip stayed in same hotel all week. That made it more relaxing and that if a person didn’t feel like walking that day they could relax at the hotel. The walks were varied and interesting. It was only the first day walk that was an effort because it was a long uphill stretch. The on hour balloon trip was very nice. The wine tasting was very good. The Hamam was very good.
Great walking holiday.. Cappadocia has such a varied landscape unlike anywhere else on the planet. All the walks were manageable. The group leader was fantastic. There were 14 of us in the group which formed a great atmosphere. We had a lovely time.
Excellent walking tour, well planned with a good base hotel and a first class guide who really knew the area and its history/terrain. Able to answer all questions without hesitation. Possibly the only criticism was that we walked so fast that there wasn't quite enough time to pause and take in the scenery.
I've been on a number of trips with Explore and others, and this was hands down the best. The leader Aykut was funny, knowledgeable, open to changing the schedule to work better (depending on weather, capability and general tourism volumes). The hotel was excellent, apart from dogs barking outside ALL night (take earplugs everywhere folks), and within easy walking distance of the town centre. The routes were brilliant, with amazing photo opportunities and various different terrains. All in all, superb.
