Australia Custom Tours and Trips

Originally from Germany, I started my professional life as a chef. In 1992 I went to Australia to work, and I ended up staying on and founding a travel company with my sister Frances in 2009. After a break, we re-launched in 2017 with great success. I love traveling and I chose Australia as my home to showcase the beauty of this country to other travelers. In 2019, we also added New Zealand to our portfolio. I love to travel with small groups to see the excitement in their eyes when we show them special places and hidden secrets. I live in Australia with my 2 dogs and also have a daughter who was born here. In terms of travel, I am more the relaxed food-driven type— I love a great meal with paired wine or beer.

You found me! Cam the man from the bottom of the map, where a short flight usually takes around 9 hours. I have lived all over this great southern country, building a wealth of knowledge about the best sightseeing places to bring you. Victoria (Melbourne city) is where I was born. I have turned every rock in my backyard and explored beyond to all the major cities and holiday destination in Australia. I have traveled to 17 countries around the world and enjoy frequent trips during the winters to warmer climates. Some of my favorite things to do are to start with what is different. I am always up to try a new cuisine or an extreme sport or to strive to reach that high mountain. I also enjoy a cocktail by the pool, if you can get me to sit still for more than an hour!

Western Australian born and bred, I have lived and loved throughout the state and traveled extensively both within Western Australia, Australia and abroad. Being brought up in Augusta, a hamlet on the most south-westerly tip of mainland Australia, the "bush" has always appealed to me and, to this day, there is nothing more enjoyable to me than leaving the city limits behind and getting back to nature. My passion for travel was formed in my teenage years when my family would go on vacations to Southeast Asia each year, introducing me to different cultures, religions, foods, and customs. Then, during a gap year after finishing my education, I volunteered to assist in rebuilding a community that had been decimated by a cyclone a few months prior on the island of Niue in the South Pacific. This experience cemented my love of travel and 3 months after returning to Australia, I began my journey as a travel agent dealing exclusively with domestic, Australian travel. After working with Hostelling International and the Traveller’s Club (one of the first domestic travel agencies in Western Australia) I opened Travel Forever, my own agency geared to servicing independent travelers, students, backpackers and groups from around the world.

I started working in the tourism industry after backpacking through South America in 1996. I landed up in Denver, Colorado, USA, and became a white water rafting guide, taking tourists down Grade 3 rapids and trying not to lose them! Upon my return to Sydney, Australia in November 1996, I cut my teeth on three-day camping adventures and day trips to the amazing Blue Mountains, just west of Sydney. I have also introduced many tourists to the scenic dolphin/whale watching cruises in Port Stephens and led informed tours through the beautiful wine country of the Hunter Valley. Like most tour guides, I love dealing with international visitors; I can speak conversational Japanese, German, Spanish, and a smattering of Dutch. I have extensive knowledge of Australian history, Aboriginal culture, Sydney city, Australian wildlife, (just ask me for my kookaburra impersonation!) the Hunter Valley, and the Blue Mountains.
