This is a lesser known route which usually begins on the western side of Mount Kilimanjaro. Lemosho route is one of the newer routes on the mountain, and a superb choice for your climb. It is our preferred route due to its ideal balance of low traffic, beautiful scenery and a high summit success rate. Most of our clients use this route and love it.
The route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west, beginning with a long drive from Moshi to Londorossi Gate. From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the rainforest to Shira Ridge.
Unlike the popular Machame route, which simply intersects the Shira Plateau, the Lemosho route crosses the entirety of the plain from west to east in a pleasant, relatively flat hike. An added bonus is that climbers will encounter low traffic until the route joins the Machame route. Afterwards, Lemosho follows the same route through Lava Tower, Barranco and Barafu, known as the southern circuit. Descent is made via the Mweka route.

A visit to the Ngorongoro Crater is an experience of a lifetime. There are few places that have wildlife densities and variety at this level. It is not unusual to see the Big Five in one day-and all this in the most amazing setting with a backdrop of the 600m/1968ft high crater wall.
Lake Manyara National Park provides the perfect introduction to Tanzania’s birdlife. More than 400 species have been recorded, and even a first-time visitor to Africa might reasonably expect to observe 100 of these in one day. Highlights include thousands of pink-hued flamingos on their perpetual migration, as well as other large waterbirds such as pelicans, cormorants and storks.
There is more to Serengeti than large mammals. Gaudy agama lizards and rock hyraxes scuffle around the surfaces of the park’s isolated granite koppies. A full 100 varieties of dung beetle have been recorded, as have 500-plus bird species, ranging from the outsized ostrich and bizarre secretary bird of the open grassland, to the black eagles that soar effortlessly above the Lobo Hills.

Join us on this seven-day, guided trip to the top of Mount Kilimanjaro, the highest peak in Africa. This tour is for those wanting to conquer Kilimanjaro via the Lemosho Route, one of the most favored routes to summit Kilimanjaro because of its high summit rate and great scenery.
This route is less crowded compared with other routes, making it perfect for first-time trekkers. Also, since it takes more time to reach the top through this route, it provides better acclimatization to climbers/trekkers, increasing the chances of a successful summit.
Your trek starts on the western side of Kilimanjaro from Londorossi Gate. Continue your journey through the rainforest to reach the Shira Plateau. At this point, the trail moves east to the Lava Tower from where it heads down to Barranco Camp. Continue your journey to Karanga Camp followed by Barafu Camp, the final camp before your summit attempt.

On the 7 day Machame route tour, the trek from Barranco to Barafu is broken up into two days, allowing for some rest just prior to the summit attempt. The Rongai route begins at the remote northern side of Kilimanjaro near the Kenyan border. We will be hiking through a true wilderness area towards the jagged Mawenzi Peak then cross a barren desert before climbing up Kibo’s eastern crater wall. Overnight in mountain huts and awake ready to conquer the slopes. Affectionately known as the Coca-Cola Route due to its popularity, Marangu covers forests, moorlands, and the Saddle (a high-altitude desert), on its way to Kibo Hut. The Marangu route is one of the most popular routes to the summit of Kilimanjaro. This could partly be as a result of the fact that the Marangu is the least expensive route but more so perhaps the fact that it is possible to do the Marangu route in 5 days thereby getting to the summit one day earlier compared to the Machame route. This is not always the best way due to a shorter acclimatization period. That is one thing to take into account before decided to do the Marangu route.
Nobody, even how fit they are, know how their body will respond in high altitude. If you want to increase your chances for making a successful summit, we recommend the Machame route.
The shared hut accommodation on the Marangu route is one of the main differences compared to the other routes, where you have to camp. Mineral water, soft drinks, chocolates and beers are also sold at all the camps on this route.

Titus Kivuyo and his drivers were professionally excellent. Our driver in Kenya (Phil) and Tanzania (Qamara—not sure of spelling) were very knowledgeable and safe drivers. Because of it being extremely hot, Titus did know his clients and adjusted the drives so we were not out in the heat of the day. So thankful he took care of us. Both drivers (Phil and Qamara) were stopped and maneuvered vehicles so we could get good pictures. Letting us have as much time needed to get the right shots. Food was good. Accommodations were good. All the employees at all the places were there to serve us. Very polite and accommodating—taking luggage as soon as we arrived, bringing wash clothes and drinks. Plenty of bottled water. Can’t say enough about the care we were given by EVERYONE!
