A busy but very worthwhile week exploring the Pearl of Arabia

I very much recommend this one week exploration of the cultural and ancient heritage of wonderful Oman. It's a busy tour but all forms of travel and accommodation are very comfortable. The people we met throughout the tour were all proud of their heritage and extremely friendly. Oman is a very safe country. The itinerary is varied as are the fabulous landscapes encountered. Most meals were included and of good quality...plenty of affordable, tasty food to be had in local cafes/restaurants ...avoid branded "western" restaurants which are very expensive. Our guide, Zubair, was very knowledgeable, very funny, worked hard and was clearly a great ambassador for his country.

Out of this world

This was a once in a lifetime adventure to one of the most beautiful places on earth with a wonderful group of like-minded people. Oman is so diverse in its landscape and there is so much to see. It is culturally so different and the people are so kind, helpful and gentle. It's safe and welcoming.

Having recently returned from an Explore trip to Oman, I can honestly say it was an unforgettable experience in an incredible country. Oman’s landscape is far more varied than I expected — it’s so much more than just desert. From dramatic mountains to lush wadis and striking coastal views, the diversity of scenery was remarkable. The overall pace of the trip was pitched just right: active and engaging without ever feeling rushed. There was sufficient downtime to relax and take in the surroundings, yet enough activities to ensure every day felt rewarding. The balance of cultural sights, landscapes, and architecture was excellent and provided a well-rounded impression of the country. The wadi walks were a particular highlight — peaceful, lush, and tranquil, offering a completely different side to Oman. Our guide, Mash-Al, was exceptional: helpful, amiable, and always hospitable. His enthusiasm and deep knowledge added so much to the experience. The food throughout the trip was consistently great, and the hospitality shown by local families during our lunches together was genuinely heart-warming. There were, however, a few aspects that could be improved. The reliance on 4WD vehicles for all travel meant that every other day, three grown men were squeezed together on the back seats. On longer journeys, especially through desert and mountain terrain, this became uncomfortable and detracted somewhat from the enjoyment of the otherwise spectacular scenery. While I understand that such vehicles are necessary for the terrain, finding a way to make the longer drives more comfortable would significantly enhance the experience. Camping in the desert was another memorable highlight — the setting was magical, and the simplicity added to the charm. The only small improvement would be the inclusion of a pillow for the overnight stay; such a small comfort would make a big difference to the overall experience. Finally, the dhow boat cruise at the beach resort felt a little underwhelming. Aside from viewing the coastline from a different angle, it didn’t seem to offer much purpose. Holding it at sunrise or sunset might provide a more atmospheric and memorable experience. Overall, this trip was a wonderful journey through a stunning country full of natural beauty, warm hospitality, and fascinating culture. Despite a few minor logistical issues, I came away with fantastic memories and a deep appreciation for Oman. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone looking for an adventure that combines culture, scenery, and genuine local connection.

I really enjoyed this interesting country. Not sure that we saw all of the chosen area. Main problem was our guide. He was very personable but not a good communicator. I am deaf so detail was a problem for me but we were never told what the plan for each day was. He said that he wasn't well? As soon as we returned to final hotel he disappeared. No chance to say goodbye.
