This is a 4 day Safari trip in Maasai Mara National Reserve and Lake Nakuru National Park, two of Kenya's best national parks for game viewing. We pick you up from your hotel in Nairobi and drop you off at the same place in Nairobi after the safari. You will enjoy two full days of fantastic game viewing drives in Maasai Mara National Reserve and Lake Nakuru National Park. During the safari we will also stop over at Rift Valley Viewpoint for breathtaking photographs of the Great Rift Valley. Maasai Mara National Reserve derives its name from the indigenous people of Kenya - the Maasai tribe - and the Mara River that cuts through the park. The Mara is also home to the richest concentration of wildlife, including the "Big Five" (elephants, lions, leopards, rhinos, and buffalo), zebras, antelope, gnus, oribis, hyenas, giraffes, warthogs, gazelles, hartebeests, hippos, crocodiles and others. The park has the largest concentration of African lions, including the black-maned lion. Lake Nakuru National Park lies in Central Kenya, surrounded mainly by wooded and bushy grassland. The park supports a wide ecological diversity with Flamingos (Greater and Lesser) and other water birds being the major attractions of the area. The ecosystem provides for about 56 different species of mammals including the white rhino and buffaloes and a variety of terrestrial birds numbering nearly 450 species.

Half-Day Cultural Tour of Bomas of Kenya in Nairobi

Explore the traditional lifestyle of Kenyan tribes at Bomas of Kenya, a tourist village located around 10 kilometres from the capital city of Nairobi. A half-day tour of the village is enough to learn and understand the cultural heritage of Kenya. You will enjoy traditional dance performances, songs and folklore during your visit here. A jaw-dropping acrobatic show is a much loved attraction at Bomas of Kenya. Bomas of Kenya was initiated in 1971 after Kenya's independence (1964) and it is run by the Kenyan Government and aims to promote Kenya's rich cultural heritage. Your tour starts by pick you from your Nairobi hotel or accommodation at 1pm. You will experience the rich culture of Kenya’s 42 different ethnic groups as they live on their day-to-day basis. This is clearly demonstrated through traditional dances, music, song, and folklore. There is a splendid arena where acrobatic shows are performed. The Bomas of Kenya put on displays of traditional dancers and spread over many acres, it also has a wonderful display of mud huts and traditional Kenyan homesteads. The Bomas of Kenya is the ideal place to bring energetic children as they can freely run in and out of the traditional houses and mud huts, climb up ladders and generally have a wonderfully active time. These traditional houses are set out in clusters according to the region. The homes are grouped with the first wife's hut, second wife's hut, granary, etc. and you can see where the livestock are kept and the enormous variety between the huts. In addition to the main attractions (the dancers and the traditional homesteads), there is also a large, wooden play area for young children, a small, low-key village of craft shops and other attractions.

Inspirational

To quote my husband: 'Glenys went away talking about animals and came home talking about the people'. We ended (our trip to Africa) on a high by spending a day in Nairobi with this tour operator. I recommend this tour as a truly rewarding experience. The money paid buys pigs for women to start a pig-breeding and selling business, and thus support their families. We spent time with 2 beautiful grandmas, cooking chapatis together for lunch then seeing their home, vegetable garden and pigpens. Hearing their life stories brought tears to our eyes, but they have truly come a long way. Inspirational! Everyone we met was cheerful, friendly and happy to do anything for us. Their happiness was contagious!

Life affirming tour

A life affirming tour that definitely should not be missed. My heart is full. Sitting with a Masai woman and learning the art of beadwork with her capable hands (in Maasai enkirina enkaina), while hearing her story and how she overcame it ALL is so amazing. She is my shujaa (Maasai for hero). I am overwhelmed. Her Story Matters. I also picked up amazing pieces at unbelievable prices to add to the Kenya collection. I am recommending this to everyone I possibly can. I left feeling like family.

Well worth the time and money

This was truly a special outing. Such a privilege to meet ... incredibly strong, beautiful women. The afternoon of jewellery making was lovely - a nice way to interact. The area that we visited was so beautiful - very peaceful. Solomon and all of the supporting staff were truly wonderful - they took great care of me. They are tremendously dedicated and passionate individuals. I learned a lot from them during our conversations. All in all, a unique tourist experience that also gives back. Excellent wildlife viewing

We went with a family of 6 on the 3 day Masai Mara tour. We had tourguide/driver Onesmas and wonderful cook Kyoko with us in a small but reasonabky comfortabel van. Onesmas was very good, entertaining without being intrusive and very good with all the locals. One highlight was seeing the start of the massive wildebeest migration from the Serengeti Tanzania into Masai Mara.
