Ecuador Wildlife Trips
Ecuador’s remarkable biodiversity makes it a magnet for wildlife enthusiasts and bird lovers. Join one of our wildlife tours in Ecuador to discover what inspired a young Charles Darwin to think differently about how life evolves after he landed in the Galapagos Islands, home to creatures not found in other parts of the world. El Chato Tortoise Reserve in the Santa Cruz highlands is an excellent place to see the magnificent giant tortoises, as well as birds like Darwin’s finches and short-eared owls. El Oriente, a world-renowned biodiversity zone that accounts for 30 percent of Ecuador’s landmass, teems with wildlife, and you are sure to spot howler monkeys, spider monkeys and pink river dolphins. If you plan your Ecuador wildlife tours between June and September, do not forget to head to the coastal Machalilla National Park to glimpse the 36-tonne humpback whale. Ecuador Wildlife Tour Reviews
Honest insights from past guests on our Wildlife Ecuador tours
Nilton, our Tour Leader in Peru was Excellent! He was always very organized but always very understanding and accommodating to the Group. Juan, our Tour Leader in Quito was Excellent! However, Juan had a hard time with all the variables associated with going to the Galapagos Islands, starting with Avianca Airlines, the always changing weather, and the restrictions from the Galapagos Rangers. We had 5 Galapagos Experts during our 5 days on the Galapagos Islands but 2 of them really stood out and were Wonderful! Shout out to Diana and Mayari!!!
This was my first solo long-haul adventure and I felt privileged and grateful to be immersed in such a unique, fragile and important environment. The wildlife was abundant and spectacular - on land, air and sea. The boat accommodation was excellent and the guide and crew were always on hand, helpful and good-humoured.
This trip surpassed expectations, travelled early May . Covers 4 islands ( with stays ) plus another as a day visit . Lots of snorkeling and one long hike ( volcano Sierra Negra ) , others are short duration of couple hours . Lots of marine wildlife and land wildlife. Sea lions in abundance , very playful and curious. Swam with penguins, sea lions , hammerhead sharks, turtles, copious amounts of fish , many types of birds seen ( obviously including blue footed boobies) , lots of marine iguanas .
Wonderful itinerary. Guides were knowledgeable and patient. Machu Picchu Hotel was very loud with trains, parties and fumes from the trains. Galapagos was one surprise after another. The final hacienda hotel in Quito was breathtaking. By far my favorite accommodation. Great trip.
Peru - a beautiful country. Inca ruins, salt plains, an unforgetable boarding the train and Machu Picchu. Cuzco has so much to offer. Guide was fantastic amd passionate about his country Ecuador has stunning cathedrals and beautiful scenary. Galapagos islands were incredible. So much wildlife seen and lovely to see the conservation efforts for tortoises and other species. Was also amazing to see the Blue footed boobies doing their mating rituals and the frigate birds nesting. Completely unforgettable full on trip
À really great trip. Great itenery in good company and with a great guide and driver. A great m mix of local culture, hiking in great countryside with beautiful scenery among cloud forests and vulcanos followed by a 5 island hop in the Galapagos. Being land based gave us an opportunity to see more of the islands interiors as well as being able to see a lot of bird life, tortoises and iguanas. We also had 3 snorkeling trips and were fortunate to seeing penguins turtles and reef sharks. Our tour leader and guide Fabian was excellent, very knowledgeable, kind and looked after us very well. It was sad to say goodbye. The local food in Ecuador was excellent and the hotels that we stayed were confortable and usually close to local amenities In conclusion a great trip. Would do again
