Balkan Cycling tour

This journey proved to be an absolute delight - the views were truly breathtaking. The individuals in the group were fantastic, always ensuring a good time, along with the guide and the driver. The biking equipment provided was of top-notch quality. I highly recommend this trip, especially for more experienced bikers.

Thorough overview of the Balkans

I knew from the description that it would be a fast paced trip and that we would sleep in a different place each night and that’s exactly what I wanted = an overview so I could see whether I wanted to go back anywhere. If you’re like me, who enjoys going out for dinner and drinks each night, you would be very tired at the end of trip. However, many chose to stay in and go to bed and I believe for them the trip was not tiring, even for the older ones. Morning starts are reasonable - we left at 8am each day. Simon was a fabulous tour guide and the local guides were all wonderful. Do take small euro bills = you definitely need them. (also take coins for toilet stops). Definitely have a revolut, or similar, card. The optional activities, whilst nice,, are highly, highly over-priced, shame on the travel specialist! One thing I missed, was more. recommendations to authentic local food with local prices. All in all, a fabulous trip and I’m so glad I did it. I will use this agency again for their professionalism.

What a great experience!

I and two other ladies did this 1 week hike last week. The trek itself was really excellent, not difficult at all, though there are a few steep climbs. The scenery was spectacular, and having strawberries, currents, raspberries growing on the roadside to eat was wonderful. This local travel specialist does a first class plus job of organising the trip, with being met and the airport, organising DBB accom, baggage carrying, maps etc. All their drivers arrived early and were happy to accommodate our needs, and our hosts at the accom were so friendly. Also we had a few problems that meant many last minute changes, the manager was always happy to accommodate, and all correspondence with him was very efficient. Totally recommended!

Hikers paradise

My friend and I really enjoyed our trip. The local travel expert did a fantastic job selecting the hikes and the accommodations. The landscapes along the trails were superb. The hiking directions and maps were very good, easy to follow. The accommodations were comfortable. Large, clean rooms, lots of hot water for showers. The breakfasts were good, with large portions, and varied. The transfers to and from the trailheads were right on time. Overall a hassle free, well executed itinerary.

Stnning trek through Bulgaria's highest mountains!

Every transfer was spot-on time with friendly drivers. The hikes were challenging as expected but led to some spectacular scenery. Pre-training and good hiking shoes, preferably boots, a must. Trails were well labelled with coloured markers and the route notes were very detailed and easy to follow. Accommodation was good. An excellent package and well priced.

Rhodopes - the hidden gem of Bulgaria

Following our positive impressions of Bulgaria from our first tour with this local travel specialist, we decided to opt for a self-guided experience, visiting this time one of the most remote regions of the country, close to the border with Greece. Naturally we booked this one with them too. Again the whole organization went very smooth. All local transfers were on time. The navigation materials we were given were very accurate and never let us down. We felt completely safe at all times, although on some of the hikes we didn't meet any other tourists at all. The whole experience walking unguided turned out to be one of our most memorable holidays ever. I dare to say we experienced the rural side of Bulgaria in one of the best possible ways, enjoying also great landscapes of uninhibited mountain ranges, isolated back roads, caves, gorges, rivers, meadows and dense forests. Local hosts have been most welcoming and food was really delicious. We were taken care of with hospitality and treated well during all breakfasts and dinners (especially in Lyaskovo village!). Definitely a place worth visiting before it gets popular.
