Exciting 5d/4n Yangtze River cruise

I went on a 5d/4n Yangtze River cruise from Yichang to Chongqing. The cruise ship was relatively new and the cabin was clean and comfortable. There was enough food selection to cater for everyone’s tastes. The crew members were very helpful and polite, one (Cindy) even helped me get the food for every meal. There were also enough activities on board like movies, spa etc if one opted out of land excursions. The land excursions were very enjoyable. Despite my temporary restricted mobility, I was assisted in getting on and off the ship and when the wheelchair was required, the staff members offered to help in pushing it. Thalia from AOT had been exceptionally helpful, advising me on which land excursion was not suitable for me and even sent a requested foldable stool to the hotel for my use in the shower on our extended 2-day stay in Chongqing post cruise. Overall, this cruise had been a very good and pleasant experience for me.

This was a well designed tour with times on the Great Wall where no other tourists were seen. There is a mix of unrestored wall in various conditions and restored parts to hike along. Just what I was after. The tour guide, John, was very knowledgeable and interested in the history of both the wall and China. He was also very patient. The Xi'an extension was also good, but I would love to have had the chance to see pandas and think this should be added to the itinerary. Unfortunately, our group could only fit in visiting on a Monday when the nature reserve is closed.

Excellent Service

Heartfelt Thanks for an Amazing China Trip! Dear Olivia, I hope this message finds you well. Our family of four recently returned from our trip to China, we wanted to take a moment to sincerely thank you for all your efforts in making it such a wonderful experience. From the seamless arrangements—the comfortable car, professional driver, and knowledgeable guides—to the well-planned itinerary, every detail was executed perfectly. We truly felt cared for throughout our journey, and it’s all thanks to your hard work and attention to detail. We had an incredible time exploring China’s beautiful sights and culture, and much of that joy came from knowing everything was so well taken care of behind the scenes. Your dedication made our trip stress-free and memorable. Please also extend our gratitude to the rest of your team. Wishing you all the best, and thank you once again. Kyle 2025 September

Using an outstanding travel company

We have done multiple cruises with agents in both Australia and the USA. My first time booking with Victor was excellent. He took care was responsible for a pleasant and worry free cruise. I would not hesitate to recommend Victor and his company for anyone requiring a cruise or tour in china.

Smooth trip without hiccups

I like free and easy trips. But for some local detailed arrangements related to itinerary/activities in various countries, it can be rather challenging. My trip to Yangtze River cruise and travel between Chongqing and Yichang involved details that I am not familiar. Olivia helped me to do the booking, train ticketing, route planning etc. The trip was smooth going without any hiccups. Additional related information and continuous support by Olivia throughout my trips was excellent. Tee from Singapore

This trip promised an opportunity to experience the Great Wall of China in depth and it really didnt disappoint. It was well planned so we experienced the Wall in a range of settings and conditions- some of it highly restored and some treacherously crumbling. The scale of the wall as it snaked across hills in the distance was breathtaking, and being able to enjoy long stretches while meeting barely another soul was extraordinary. Our guide Olly was fabulous. Very knowledgable about Chinese history and culture, he also put an enormous amount of thought and care into making sure we felt well-looked after and prepping us for each stage of the trip. Nothing was too much trouble for him and he really cared about us experiencing a great trip, sourcing delicious food, advising us on what we needed for each day's walking and managing to reschedule everything so we didnt miss out when the first few days were derailed due to bad weather. One note of warning - to describe the walking as moderate is an understatement! And take the Xian extension if you have time. Terracotta Army is stunning and you will meet another great guide Diana.

Xian — Tour Highlights and Travel Tips

Tour Highlights

  • The everlasting lines of Terracotta Warriors inside the three pits are a must-see when you are on your Xian trip. The illustrious army of clay soldiers has guarded the first emperor of China for over 2,000 years.
  • The Banpo Neolithic Village is an astounding archaeological discovery that gives you a closer look at Yangshao culture over 6,000 years ago — make sure to include this attraction when you buy any Xian vacation packages.
  • History buffs will be in paradise as the Shaanxi History Museum boasts an enormous collection of ancient artefacts from the earliest Chinese dynasties.
  • The Big Wild Goose Pagoda is one of the most bewildering Buddhist sites teeming with religious texts and statues. Dating back to the 7th century CE, the awe-inspiring structure has stood the test of time to teach Buddhist scriptures to spiritual residents today.
  • Stare down the impenetrable City Wall which guarded the old city from invading intruders. Spice up your Xian trip with an invigorating bicycle ride along the formidable barrier.
  • Take in the scenery of the lavish gardens and beautiful architecture at the Huaqing Hot Springs. Learn about the mesmerizing romance tale of Tang Dynasty Emperor Xuanzong and his concubine Yang Guifei.
  • Practice your chef skills during your Xian tour by preparing traditional dumplings and tasting the exquisite local delicacy.

Travel Tips

  • Dodge scams and overpriced souvenir shops near the Terracotta Warriors exhibit.
  • Keep your eyes peeled and do not be fooled by the phony tourism bus service No. 5.
  • The Muslim Quarter is one of the top locations to pick up a delicious snack for a quality price.
  • Comfortable weather makes the spring a wonderful time to enjoy a Xian tour.
  • Taxis are a convenient mode of transport during your Xian travel, but they are extremely difficult to flag down.
