day 1Trip starts in Rabat
Our tour of Morocco starts in Rabat, the political and administrative capital of Morocco since 1956. With its palm-lined streets, manicured boulevards and easy going pace of life, Rabat is the perfect place to start our Moroccan adventure. If you arrive to the city early, there are plenty of sights to keep you occupied. In contrast to other cities in Morocco, Rabat has a relaxed, European feel to it. The city is easy to navigate, with Hassan II Avenue dividing the new town and the old medina which is crammed full of craft shops, exotic spices and food stalls. At 7pm, our tour leader will meet you in the hotel reception for a welcome meeting. If you want to, there'll be the chance to go out for dinner afterwards. If you arrive later, our tour leader will catch up with you the following morning before we check out. If you'd like an airport transfer today, you'll need to arrive into Casablanca Mohammed V International Airport (CMN) or Rabat Airport (RBA). As part of our Upgraded range, we also offer a complimentary transfer to those who have made pre-tour accommodation arrangements through us, regardless of your arrival day, provided we receive your flight details no later than 14 days prior to departure. The journey from the airport to our hotel is around 90 minutes. Our first night is based at a family run hotel set in beautiful gardens with a swimming pool. The hotel features a sun terrace and has a restaurant, offering a choice of freshly prepared French and Moroccan dishes. The homely bedrooms are well appointed with air conditioning, free wifi and have a private small terrace on the ground floor or balcony on the first floor overlooking the expansive gardens.

This trip was a variety of experiences, from the beauty of Rabat, to the stunning blue city of Chefchauen, the bustling medina in Fes to the calm of the mountains. Accommodation was lovely and spacious but most of the Riads we stayed in had a lot of steps up to the rooms and only once had a lift. Our guide Mohamed made the trip special, making sure we all had what we needed and when the unexpected happened (who could predict storms and hailstones) he dealt with everything efficiently and calmly, going above and beyond. The local guides were all excellent too, with a special mention to Rashid in Fes. The home cooked meal in Chefchauen was excellent and a lovely experience. My highlight was a trip out before breakfast to explore the empty blue streets of Chefchauen as the riad we stayed in was perfectly located.

A great experience and itinerary at an appropriate pace. Interesting and mostly good accommodation. Excellent local guides and a good and efficient tour leader. There were a couple of very long journeys and the tour bus was not the most comfortable. The driver was very competent and friendly.
We are on the old side for the holiday and did find it quite tiring but that is not Explore's fault. Our only criticism would be the way we were shown Marrakesh. The local guide was not good. I am sure the part of the tour showing us the soul could have been made much more interesting. Boubker was excellent and could not have done more for us.
Very impressed by this trip, despite dodgy weather (a lot of rain). Excellent accommodation and a first-class leader (Boubker) who was always on the ball and keen to go the extra mile.
