Adventure into the scenic, mysterious and fascinating lands of Georgia. This 10-day guided group hike traces the second stage of the Transcaucasian Trail, immersing you in the wild beauty and rich traditions of Georgia’s Svaneti region.
Your journey begins in Georgia’s eclectic capital, Tbilisi, where Persian, Ottoman and Soviet influences collide with bold modern design, vibrant cafés and natural wine bars. Enjoy a guided exploration of the city’s historic heart and the comfort of your 4-star hotel, where you’ll return to unwind at the end of the trip.
Head west to explore UNESCO-listed cathedrals, the ancient cave town of Uplistsikhe, and a family-run winery where you’ll enjoy a home-cooked lunch and taste Georgia’s legendary qvevri wines. Walk the dramatic limestone cliffs of Okatse Canyon before heading into the rugged Greater Caucasus Mountains.
Over five days of hiking, follow remote trails through glacier-fed valleys, alpine meadows and traditional Svan villages. Stay in characterful guesthouses and experience Georgia’s warm hospitality. Climb to scenic passes with breathtaking views of the country’s highest peaks, explore Ushguli, the highest permanently inhabited village in Europe, and reach the spectacular Shkhara Glacier.
With all meals included, you’ll enjoy plentiful Georgian fare even on the trail, from fresh vegetables and local cheeses to generous picnic spreads that reflect the country’s rich culinary traditions. Whether taken on its own or as part of the full Transcaucasian Trail Hike, this is a rewarding and culturally rich trek through one of Europe’s most awe-inspiring mountain regions.

This was another fabulous World Expeditions adventure complete with excellent guides, beautiful trails with stunning wildflowers, and wonderful hosts at homesteads who ensured the rooms were clean and cozy and the food delicious. Armenia was beautifu with its rolling hills and mountainsl. Georgia was stunning with its high, snow-capped mountains. It was my eighth W.E. trip, and it lived up to the high standards - and my high expectations - of all of the others. I can't recommend this trip highly enough.
Loved our time in Armenia. Great guide, beautiful country and a few challenges on the walk.
Loved our time in Georgia. The scenery was gorgeous and some parts of the trek were quite challenging. Staying in village guesthouses was fantastic-they were often basic but always clean. Our guide Lasha was wonderful, with a great knowledge of history and culture.
The guides were fantastic. I am a slow walker and one of the guides happily accompanied me so I could enjoy the spectacular scenery. I never felt rushed. The itinerary was good and flexible.
Highly Recommended
I had a wonderful time. The scenery was spectacular and the Georgian people are very welcoming. The actual walking parts of the trek are moderate, not introductory.
Excellent trip itinerary - good mixture of sights as well as fabulous walks in the Svaneti region - stunning scenery
It was a fascinating trip with shades of East Germany, Turkey and Spain
What a wonderful country! We thoroughly enjoyed our trip, a great group, fantastic scenery, wonderful food and hospitality.
The Georgian scenery is incredible and just like a postcard. The hospitality at the guest houses along the trail is second to none and the comradery along the trail adds a bit of fun as you pass the same groups of people each day on the trail when you stop for breaks or to admire the view.
