Need extra day / days in Singapore and definitely an extra day in Kuala Lumpur. The whole tour was amazing. Malaysia is hugely interesting. The food is out of this world. The tour is great but could do a little bit of tweaking. I feel that Explore should implore you to have an extra couple of days before the tour in Singapore and they should include an additional day in Kuala Lumpur as one day was not enough. They could all even shorten the tour by removing a day in Langkawi but also encourage you to have another day there on your own as it is a beautiful end of tour relaxation resort
An excellent trip to Singapore and Malaysia. We arrived a few days ahead of the start of the tour and spent time exploring Singapore, which is easy to navigate when using the metro and a contactless card. Do not miss the Gardens by the Bay and in particular the evening light show. Su was a very informative guide in Singapore and we had a good introduction to the different areas of the city. Mally was our guide in Malaysia and was excellent. She was extremely informative around the locations we visited, the country’s history, the food and the different cultures that make up Malaysian society. Highlights of the trip included the Suka Suka home stay and the vibrant street food hawker centres throughout which is an absolute must for foodies.
Good value all round with two knowledgeable and enthusiastic tour guides. Mally was full of energy and went out of her way to make us feel well-informed. Many of the products she provided (handouts, pictures and info sheets) were great and all her own work and her initiative. We were left a little bit alone on some evenings, as there were no communal plans for dinner. Single travellers may have felt left out. This improved as soon as she was told. Explanations about religion, temples and culture was high quality. Itinerary info, times, dates, RV points and programmes were shared early and were very informative. A great tour and will recommend.
A wonderful trip. So many highlights. Andrew was a brilliant tour leader and really went 'above and beyond' to ensure everyone was looked after; he was very knowledgeable, and so helpful when it came to choosing food, and giving local information. A bit more time at the home stay, and also in the highlands, having driven all that way, would have been nice.
Excellent itinary made all the better by our guide, Andrew, who made sure we saw the best options in our free time and even took us on an extended walking tour during his free time. He booked taxis, restaurants and bars for us and made sure not only the itinary went so smoothly for us but all the extras too in such a kind and thoughtful manner.
Great holiday but would have preferred more time in Singapore. Also the breakfast at the hotel in Kuala Lumpa was inedible. The rest of the holiday was good, Andrew was a considerate leader who went out of his way to please.
As expected. Staying at the homestead was the best. The island at the end of the trip could have been one day less and more time needed in Singapore. Overall good trip
Leader looked after the group very well. The tour was quite tiring as there was a lot of travelling and guided walks around the cities and sights. It was a good opportunity to visit many places of interest and also to meet some locals and spend time with them.
Mally was incredibly
An excellent trip to explore Singapore and Malaysia our Explore Leader was always on hand to enrich our experience of the tour. From the modern city life to down to earth home stay it has been a fantastic experience.
Interesting trip. Gave a good insight into Singapore and Malaysia, countries that not many tour companies cover. Not too sure what to expect but certainly worth visiting.
A most enjoyable and diverse trip. Big cities to rural retreats and beaches. Exploring all facets of a multi cultural country in its mosques, temples and religious festivals on the way. Mally was a great leader who imparted so much information on the country she clearly loves. We had enough free time to explore ourselves fulfilling our own interests and tastes in the stopovers prior to a relaxing end in Langkawi. Special mention to Mally and our driver who took me in the tour bus to a clinic over a medical issue in Malacca , above and beyond.
We had a friendly group of travellers. Our guide was very knowledgeable and told us a lot about the customs and religions of the country, as well as about her Indian family background. However she was rather biased in her views on Singaporeans and Muslims. This could have caused offence to certain people. One expects a leader to rename impartial about different races and religions.
Explores’ tour of Singapore and Malaysia is a good trip. I would recommend extra nights in Singapore at the start as there is much to see. The tour is pretty fast paced with alot to pack in each city visited. There is opportunity to immerse yourselves into the local culture both in terms of religion and food. We ate in local Hawkers food courts and the food was good quality, tasty and very cheap. The home stay was really lovely and relaxing and the Cameron Highland was a respite from the very hot temperatures. Langkowi is a perfect end to this tour, especially if you take the boat trips to see more of this incredible island.
Travelling solo for the first time it was a great experience for me. A total of 15 with Explore was just right and touring Singapore and Malaysia with the group was enjoyable. Didn't have to worry about hotel and transport booking and be seeing the best places that I probably would not have seen if I travelled by myself and not been with Explore.
A very comprehensive tour of Singapore and Malaysia exploring different regions, modern cities and culture. Hotels comfortable with good breakfasts as well as lots of opportunities to sample local foods. Good balance of organised activities and time to pursue own interests. Well organised leader sharing a range of informatio on culture and diverse communities of modern Malaysia. Homestay particularly enjoyable as a way of sampling traditional life. Personally would have preferred more time on mainland and less on Langkawi
This was our first tour with Explore and loved every minute of it. Had a lovely group of people on the tour and our guide Mally was excellent. Only downside for us was that we felt there were too many temple and mosque visits. There is a lot more to see in Malaysia and Singapore than so many temples.
Very knowledgeable and personable guide. Mally was well aware of people's needs. She kept us all aware of all that each hotel had to offer. Also good areas to eat and what to see where we stayed.
An enjoyable trip through Malaysia from Singapore to Langkawi. An excellent opportunity to visit all the main cities and areas of Malaysia, including Kuala Lumpur, Mallacca, Penang as well as the Cameron Highlands. Decent accommodation, excellent food and all highly recommended.
Stunning start in Singapore - Su the local guide was brilliant. She was very informative and engaging. She had spare travel cards we could use if we weren't able to use bankcards on public transport. Wasn't expecting to love Singapore as much as I did. Enough free time to go on a boat trip and visit the amazing Gardens By the Bay and use Su's travel card. Hotel was good too location and I arrived very early and they were able to get me checked me early. Malaysia was good too but more full on. Melaka was fun, Kuala Lumpur again I enjoyed much more than I was expecting. Location of the hotel was great. Ipoh interesting. The Homestay was very good - not tempted to swim in the lake and the only time we had rain but very atmospheric. Cameron Highlands and Mossy Forest and Tea Plantation very interesting. The two local guides/drivers were again excellent. Penang and the temple visit were highlights. After the trip I had another couple of nights in Penang and discovered the free bus that runs round Georgetown every 15 minutes - this would have been good to know about as I did a lot of walking in Penang. Hotel a bit far out. Langkawi was a good end to the trip. Very relaxing and again lots of walking as a resort hotel on the beach which was comfortable though on the outskirts of the town. Bizarrely there was a lovely infinity pool BUT even as guests you had to pay to use it! Lovely fun group of 9 and so many guides, all good. Andrew the tour leader, Sam, our Malaysian guide and Hasli who normally guides in Borneo. Could be my next trip!
Mally was an excellent tour leader, always cheerful and ready to help with queries, going above and beyond to make sure we enjoyed the visits. She also introduced us to delicious local foods and it was great to get a feel for how the locals lived and enjoyed their cities and country.
The tour was well planned. Accommodation was good, although some needed to be closer to the centre of the places we visited. The tour leader was good, although there was some competition between him and the local guide in Malaysia - talked too much! Transfer didn't happen - the 3 of us on the group flight took longer to come through as our luggage didn't arrive with us - the transfer didn't wait - a poor start.
Pretty full on, quite a few early starts, but that’s Explore. Accommodation good, loved the homestay, but chilly rain in the Cameron Highlands made the rather grand room at the hotel a bit of a cold ordeal. Loved our tour leader Mallee, always helpful and introducing us to local delights. Warm, friendly, a pleasure. Langkawi Island a perfect ending.
A varied trip, covered lots of interesting cities/towns. Tour leader, Mally, was passionate about her country of Malaysia and was always cheerful and full of enthusiasm. She introduced us to many local food courts which we wouldn't have found independently. Perhaps an extra day in Penang instead of Kuala Lumpur would be good
