It is being said that a Lama following a footprints of Yak discovered the valley and hence the valley was named Langtang which means (Lang in Tibetan is 'yak' and Teng is 'to follow'). Langtang is a small but beautiful valley situated in the eastern part of Nepal connecting the southern border of Tibet.
Langtang is easily accessible from Kathmandu; a few hours of bus ride will bring you to the most beautiful parts of Himalayas. Langtang holds the beauty of the main Himalayan range to the north and a slightly lower range of snowy peaks to the south. However, trekking with the varieties of rhododendron, bamboo forests, majestic waterfalls and snow-capped Himalayas make the trek one of the most diverse treks close to Kathmandu.
Langtang Lirung (7246m) dominates the valley to the north; Gang Chhenpo (6388m) and Naya Kangri (5864m) lie to the south; and Dorge Lakpa (69866m) protects the east end of the valley. This high and isolated region is inhabited by Tamangs. Tamang are the local ethnic group whose religious practices, language and dress are much more similar to those of Tibet than to the traditions of their cousins in the Middle Hills. Langtang valley trekking offers an opportunity to explore villages, climb small peaks and visit glaciers.
At Adventure Bound, we are looking forward to giving you an unforgettable trip at an excellent price.
We depart from Kathmandu on the bus early in the morning to head for SyapruBesi. We follow the Trishuli River, set in a beautiful valley occupied by a variety of ethnic groups. As we continue north, we pass by the town of Trishuli, home to the Trishuli Bazaar. We continue on and the road gains altitude byway of many curves and turns. Soon we pass Dunche to arrive in SyapruBesi, the gateway to the Langtang Valley treks, and our final destination for the day.
We enjoy our first breakfast in the mountains and then set out east following the Langtang Khola, trekking along its bank. Rhododendron, chir pine, and Nepalese alder offer us company as our legs gain their stride and our excitement builds. After a somewhat steep ascent we gain Lama Hotel, a small village with pleasant tea houses, and our final destination for the day.
We enjoy breakfast at our tea house in Lama Hotel before setting out and walking further east into the Langtang Valley. We ascend above the rhododendron and alder to pass through forests of oak and then the sub-alpine forests of larch, fir, and hemlock. Along the way, we pass the village of Ghodatabela, where the valley widens and we are delighted by views of LangtangLirung (7234m). Continuing on we arrive in Langtang village, the largest settlement in the Langtang valley and populated by Tamang who practice Tibetan Buddhism. Remarkable hospitality is one of the endearing features of their culture and a joy to experience. Langtang village is our final destination for the day.
Today is more like a leisure day as we will take a leisurely walk for 2 -3 hours to visit the Kyangjin Gompa at an altitude of 3817m. The final destination of the trek, the Gompa is a serene and beautiful place that allows us to have the scenic views of Mt. Ganchhenpo and Mt. Langtang Lirung. The cheese factory, the monasteries and the traditional local houses are the main attractions of this short trip.
This day is dedicated to indulging in the natural beauty and serenity of the Gompa area. We can enjoy the splendid mountain views as well as relish in the peaceful environment. We can also take a climb up to the Tsergo Ri at 5150m and also reach the Langtang glacier and the beautiful yak pasture called Langshisha Kharka. This quite tough day. We will follow the same trail back to Kyanjin Gompa and spend the night in the same hotel.
We recommend you rise early to catch sunrise over KyanjinGompa and the incredible views a sunrise here offers. We can then observe morning prayers at the KyanjinGompa. Following our early morning activities, we trek back west, descending through the Langtang valley. We again pass through our forest friends, cross suspension bridges, and take in the Tamang settlements along the way. We arrive in Lama Hotel, our final destination for the day.
We enjoy our final breakfast on the trail, and then continue our westward walk, descending further, ever accompanied by the Langtang Khola, and our last moments in the Langtang National Park. We arrive in SyapruBesi, where we can explore the market town, and welcome our first shower since we left. SyapruBesi is our final destination for the day.
From SyapruBesi, we drive back to Kathmandu, enjoying the views of the river and terraced mountainsides. Upon arrival in Kathmandu, transfer to the hotel.
So well from where can i start My trip to Langtang Valley didn't go well. First of all i was searching for a good trip organizer, after some research i decided to book with this operator. Yeah the prices were comparatively high but i thought i would be worth the paying as i was travelling with my wife but all in vain. The guide did not treat us well. He didn't give us proper information about the places we asked for. Overall we did enjoy the nature but the trip was not well organized. Me and my wife were looking at other guides. They were giving a proper detailed information to their clients but ours was very weak at this point. We were travelling but at the same time we didn't feel we were travelling. We were so much disappointed to the service they provided. At kyangin gompa and langtang we ordered dinner for 6pm but it was late for an hour so we asked the guide but he was fully drunk and was not able to answer us properly. We don't recommend this travel company to anyone. None of the things was on time ranging from bus departure to dinner. They are very bad at service and the hospitality. Overall the trip was so disappointing.
Then langtang trek is beautiful with snow capped mountains and hills covered with rodorondons. our guide is responsible speak good english, patient and attentive, our porter is a wonderful man too. hope langtang valley recovers from the earthquake. love the people there.
I trekked the beautiful Langtang Valley in December and arranged everything through local operator. The trip started with a long bumpy drive to Syabrubesi, My guide Raman was extremely helpful throughout the trip and was full of local knowledge, which was useful when it came to choosing which guest house to stay in. He knew the ones with the best food. We really had great time in mountain.
1.)A manager charged us more than exact currency as we paid in NRP that caused us 16$ more. 2.) Along the way of trekking I didn't feel comfortable to take picture as much as I want even we were only two people in a trip. And a guide didn't bring us to second view point of Kyanjin gompa at 4,773 meters. Wish they see this post and improve.
