For young adventurers seeking Himalayan beauty and cultural insight, the Langtang Valley and Gosaikunda Trek offers a 12-day journey through some of Nepal’s most enchanting regions. Begin from Kathmandu, trek to the mountain-encircled village of Kyanjin Gompa, and ascend to the sacred high-altitude lake of Gosaikunda. Along the way, witness breathtaking mountain vistas and experience the daily life of communities rooted in Tibetan Buddhism. The trek’s distinctive appeal lies in its combination of remote landscapes and rich cultural encounters, making it an ideal trekking tour for those craving both scenic wonder and genuine human connection.

day 1 - Arrive in Kathmandu

Meet our representative on landing at Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport and trave to your accommodation in the city. You are free for the rest of the day after checking into your hotel.

day 2 - From Kathmandu to Lama Hotel via Syabrubesi

A road trip takes you from Kathmandu to Syabrubesi. Strap on your hiking boots after that and start hiking. Cross the Bhote Kosi to reach the Langtang River, which you will then follow as you travel through terraced fields and lush jungles.

Ascend to Bamboo and then gradually climb to Rimche, which is situated along the banks of the Langtang River. There are a number of small towns as well as bamboo and birch forests along the way and, in you are lucky, you might even bump into unusual native fauna, such the red panda. Your day comes to an end on reaching Lama Hotel.

day 3 - Trek from Lama Hotel to Langtang Village

Your uphill journey continues from Lama Hotel as you head for Langtang Village. Take in the breathtaking mountain scenery along the way. The route is filled with greenery and punctuated by waterfalls. On reaching Ghoda Tabela's lush meadows, you can enjoy views of white peaks from up close. Call it an end on reaching Langtang Village.

day 4 - Trek from Langtang to Kyangjin Gompa

Travel uphill, across meadows and past tiny, deserted settlements. The Langtang Valley offers expansive views of the massive Himalayas. Your path spans a glacier moraine as well as tributaries. Then, at last, you will Kyanjin Gompa, a location named after the nearby historic monastery.

Unfortunately, the monastery has been largely abandoned since the devastating earthquake in 2015. Head for the viewpoint of Kyajo Ri, located 5,150 meters from sea level, after lunch for breathtaking views of various mountain ranges as well as the Langtang Valley.

day 5 - Back to Lama Hotel from Kyanjing Gomba

It is time to head downhill. Follow the route back to Lama Hotel after breakfast. the total distance you will cover today is 21.6 kilometers.

day 6 - Trek from Lama Hotel to Thulo Syabru

Today's trail takes you down to Pairo from Lama Hotel. Cross a tiver and start ascending in the direction of Thulo Syabru. The walk is lovely, serene and picturesque and you will travel past ethnic Tamang villages along the way. The journey today comes to an end on reaching Thulo Syabru.

day 7 - Trek from Thulo Syabru to Shin Gompa

Leave Thulo Syabru behind and start a slow ascent. Having traveled past an army checkpoint, you will eventually arrive in Darabang. The trail becomes steep from this point and passes through a woodland full of oaks and hemlocks. Continue through groves of spruces and rhododendrons to reach Dhimsa. Shin Gompa is located 30 minutes away from Dhimsa and is famous for its cheese factory.

day 8 - Trek from Shin Gompa to Gosaikunda Lake

Continue your uphill journey through a barren mountain trail that has hardly any flora. As you ascend further, you can enjoy mesmerizing views of the Himalayas, with Langtang Himal and Ganesh Himal to your west.

You will finally reach Laure Binayak after several hours of climbing and stop there for a while before continuing the ascent. Reach Chorten after two hours of strenuous ascent and another hour of ascent leads you to two stunning waterfalls, Saraswati Kunda and Bhairav Kunda. Your journey comes to an end on reaching Gosaikunda Lake.

day 9 - From Gosaikunda to Laure Binayak Pass & Ghopte

The route takes you through the picturesque Helambu region today as you head for the Laure Binayak Pass. A large stone stupa and numerous prayer flags serve as markers on the top of this pass, which is also the highest point of Langtang Trek. On reaching High Camp (4,240 m), you will take the journey downhill towards a broad valley before continuing on a steeper, rocky slope to Phedi. This is followed by a long climb to Ghopte, the final destination of the day.

day 10 - Trek from Ghopte to Kutumsang

Trek through groves of juniper, rhododendron and pine in a remote, unpopulated area before reaching the peaceful highland setting of Tharepati. From Tharepati, the path descends gently through forests.

Travel past a large meadow with ruins of shepherd's huts. The descent gets steeper as it leads through a forest to Magin Goth (3,265m). A short walk thereafter will take you to Kuala Bhanjyang (3,335m) from where you will descend to the village of Kutumsang (2,470m).

day 11 - Trek from Kutumsang to Chisapani

From Kutumsang, you will head for Gul Bhanjyang (2,140m) followed by Thorong Danda (2,500m). A steep, rocky path will then take you to the village of Chipping. Follow a downhill trail to reach Pati Bhanjyang (1,760m), a village located between Chipping and Chisapani. Today's journey comes to an end on reaching Chisapani.

day 12 - From Chisapani to Kathmandu

A few minutes' walk away from Chisapani is Shivapuri Nagarjun National Park. From here, you will take a wide road leading down a hill and then a paved path that goes uphill. Eventually, having walked past a few water reservoirs and large water pipes, you will reach Sundarijal (1,460m), from where you will take a local transport back to Kathmandu.
