Transfer by coach to Lake Balaton, whose 595 km² surface makes it the largest freshwater lake in Central and Western Europe. Its more than 250 km of shoreline offer a succession of contrasting landscapes: sandy beaches on the southern side and cliffs rising along the northern shore.Lunch at your leisure. Included guided tour of Tihany, a peninsula renowned for the beauty of its setting and its Baroque abbey church. Nicknamed the ‘Pearl of Lake Balaton’, it is one of the first protected ecological areas in Hungary. On the hill overlooking the site stands the emblematic abbey, founded in the 11th century. Its crypt — the only fully preserved burial place of the Árpád dynasty, Hungary’s first royal house — contains the tomb of Andrew I, the king who founded the abbey. From the top of the hill, the views over Lake Balaton are magnificent. Free time.Continuation to Balatonfüred, one of the oldest resort towns on the lake. You will see its elegant 19th-century villas, once a meeting place for artists, scientists and political figures. A stroll along the Tagore Promenade, a beautiful plane-tree-lined walkway, will take you to the port, which offers superb views of the lake and of the Tihany Abbey.
