Introducing Jordan
A hidden gem of the Middle East, Jordan should be a must on your travel bucket list. From the lively markets of Amman to the stunning Azraq Wetlands, there is something for everyone in Jordan. If history is your interest, then visit the ruins of Jerash or the 6000-seat Roman amphitheater in Amman, where concerts are staged in the summer. Take in the aromas of the streets of Amman as you sample local cuisines such as mansaf and typical Middle Eastern delights like kanafeh and baklava. Visit the Wadi Rum desert to enjoy a night of camping with a native Bedouin guide. Try the traditional Bedouin tea and coffee. While in Petra, check out the Ad Deir Monastery, hidden behind the well-known ruins up a difficult donkey trail. The place offers a unique perspective on the ancient rock city. And to cap off your trip, what better way than to float in the mineral-rich Dead Sea or go snorkeling in the crystal-clear Red.
When to Go to Jordan
As a Middle Eastern country, you can expect Jordan to be hot for a good portion of the year. The summer months (June, July, and August) offer longer daylight hours but sweltering temperatures of up to 45°C in the Dead Sea. You will find the northern city of Amman and its surrounding archaeological sites far more agreeable during this time of year. If you are after cooler temperatures, April will offer springtime greenery and wildlife but expect large tourist crowds.
How long to stay in Jordan
With our tailor-made trips, you can see the top attractions in Jordan, such as Petra, Wadi Rum, and the Dead Sea, in as little as three days. You may spend a week or more there to really immerse yourself in Jordan’s rich culture and interesting history. Must-Visit Destinations in Jordan
There are plenty of places you can visit in Jordan. Besides the well-known Dead Sea, which is one of the country's top highlights, the Holy Land is also a must-visit place to visit. Also, enjoy a hike on a section of the Jordan Trail, stretching from Umm Qais to Aqaba, and snorkel in the warm waters of the Red Sea. In Amman, check out the Souk Jara Market to buy souvenirs and put your haggling skills to the test. For a fitting end to your Jordan trip, book one of our customized tours to explore the magnificent Wadi Rum desert landscape and enjoy a night of stargazing.
