Great trip. Great tour guide. Went above and beyond for a great experience. Went to extra stops like the pineapple farm. Pearl Harbor, Kilauea volcano and the road to Hana were highlights.
The Road to Hana was a great way to see Maui. The beauty everywhere was incredible! I would go back tomorrow!
Road to Hana. Erin Ross was our tour guide. She did an Excellent job. So smart and a funny personality. Everyone loved her. Our next tour will definitely be her.
This was a very nice tour, but perhaps not the best of the Collette tours I've taken. All of the hotels except the last one -- the Outrigger on Kauii -- were excellent. The Outrigger on Kauii needs its own review, as it was pretty terrible in several ways. I'll tell that later if there's time. The Coffee plantation tour on The Big Island was especially interesting, as was the tour that included the volcano. The Road to Hana was beautiful and interesting. Many beautiful scenic stops and waterfalls. It's too bad that it takes all day. Hana itself is not much of a place, so I wonder if it would be better to stop the tour at the place we had lunch and turn around there, making it a shorter day. The Aquarium on Maui was also a highlight. Probably the best acquarium I've ever seen. My one criticism is that I think there was too much free time. I'm sure there were more beautiful and interesting things we could have seen on each island rather than being on our own. Other highlights were the Canyon on Kauaii, which was spectacular, and the luau on Oahu. The luau show/performance was really nice. The last hotel was not up to Collette's standards. 1. It was under construction which made finding our way around confusing. 2. The first room they put me in had bugs in it and the latch on the door to the deck/veranda was sort of broken so it didn't work very well. I almost got locked out on the veranda. 3. The view from the room was of construction vehicles and debris -- even after they moved my room 4. The pool area had too few umbrellas, so it was difficult to find a shady spot to sit; 5. The beach was nice enough to look at, but not a place that was people friendly -- driftwood everyone, so difficult to walk and not a place you'd want to swim; 6 there was nothing to do near the hotel, so if you wanted to do an activity on the free day you had to research what was available and then hire your own transportation to get there and pay extra for whatever the activity was. My other complaint is that for the amount we pay for this kind of trip, Collette ought to get us decent seats on the airplanes. That is, not in the last seats on the plane, smallest amount of room and last to board. Get us into earlier boarding groups and preferably into at least "economy plus" so we have more comfortable seats.
Hawaii is truly beautiful. Many wonderful site and people. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. She was always ready to do anything we needed. Some days were very long and tiring. The coffee tour was very informative. We didnt get to stay at Pearl Harbor long enough. We seemed rushed here and could stay to see the museum. Enjoyed the Palace.
