Follow the gentle, downhill trail that takes you to Lawichasa from where it branches off to reach Tashinga (3380m) before ascending again. Climb past prayer wheels and through a rhododendron forest.

Reach Tengboche, a village scattered across a wide, grassy saddle below a crescent-shaped ridge covered by scrub pines and rhododendrons, in the evening. The focal point of Tengboche is the famous Tengboche Monastery.

day 5 - Tengboche - Dingboche

Follow the trail from Tengboche that takes you through a forest of conifers and rhododendrons. Reach Debuche and visit Debuche Gompa, known for its old thangkas and murals painted on wooden panels.

The trail continues through dense forests to reach Milinggo, from where it drops steeply down to a suspension bridge over Imja Khola. Reach Pangboche, the village with the oldest monastery in the Khumbu region, Pangobche Gompa, which was founded by Lama Sange Dorje. Following Imja Khola, the trial climbs towards the village of Shomare and cuts through the isolated pastures and fields used for grazing yaks.

Reach the sprawling settlement of Dingboche, a cold and windy place with sub-zero night temperatures even in summers.

day 6 - Dingboche - Lobuche

Find yourself surrounded by mountains today as you travel past Dusa, Dughla and Chupki Lhara. See stones heaped together in memories of mountaineers who lost their lives in Everest. Stay overnight in a lodge.

day 7 - Lobuche - Gorekshep - Everest Base Camp

This day will be a long, hard one. Clamber past grassy terrain with a few scattered boulders and see the snowy wall of lofty mountains ahead. The 60m/200ft ascent takes us to the top of the lateral moraine wall of the Changri Glacier to a level spot called Thangma Riju from where you can see spectacular, panoramic views of mountains all around: Taboche and Lobuche peaks, Pumori and the rest of the mountains in the Mahalangur Range.

The trail takes you past the moraine of the Changri Glacier which joins the Khumbu Glacier from the west and climbs steeply up a stony slope to reach Gorakshep. Cross icefalls, frozen pools and large boulders to reach Everest Base Camp. Descend back to Gorakshep, where you will spend your night.

Meals:Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner

day 8 - Gorekshep - Kala Patthar - Pheriche

Start after an early breakfast. Cross the frozen, sandy plain of Gorekshep and start your ascend to Kala Patthar. It’s a slow and tough climb but every meter ascended is rewarded by a bit more of Everest.

Spend a while in the middle of an unbelievable Himalayan panorama before starting your journey downhill. Retrace the way you came up, passing through Gorekshep and Lobuche. From Dughla, instead of moving towards Dingboche, you will descend to Pheriche where you will stay overnight.
