Designed for fit and experienced trekkers, this strenuous journey follows the Dudh Kosi River, ascends through Sherpa villages, and tops out at Kala Patthar for unparalleled Himalayan views. The condensed itinerary skips acclimatization days, making it best for those with prior trekking experience and strong fitness. Its USP? Maximum adventure and iconic sights packed into just twelve days—ideal for travelers who want the Everest Base Camp experience without a lengthy time commitment.
day 1 - Kathmandu arrival
Upon landing in Kathmandu's Tribhuvan International Airport, you will be received by our representative and driven to your hotel. You are free for the rest of the day.
day 2 - Kathmandu - Lukla (flight) & trek to Phakding
Board the early morning flight from Kathmandu to Lukla and trek to upper Phakding. Travel past the Sherpa villages of Chheplung, Ghat, Sano and Thulo Gumela. See Drangdrak Gompa and Pema Choling Gompa along the way.
day 3 - Phakding - Namche Bazaar
Your destination today is Namche Bazaar. Start your journey in the morning, trekking past the hamlets of Zamphute and Tok Tok. See the dazzling Thamserku glistening in the morning sun. Pass through the scenic Sherpa villages of Benkar, Chumoa and Monjo. You travel through Sagarmatha National Park today.
day 4 - Namche Bazaar - Tengboche
The trail from Namche is comparatively easy and offers great views of Thamserku, Ama Dablam, Lhotse and Everest. Reach Kyangjuma (3550m) from where a short walk will takes you to Sanasa (3600m).
Follow the gentle, downhill trail that takes you to Lawichasa from where it branches off to reach Tashinga (3380m) before ascending again. Climb past prayer wheels and through a rhododendron forest.
Reach Tengboche, a village scattered across a wide, grassy saddle below a crescent-shaped ridge covered by scrub pines and rhododendrons, in the evening. The focal point of Tengboche is the famous Tengboche Monastery.
day 5 - Tengboche - Dingboche
Follow the trail from Tengboche that takes you through a forest of conifers and rhododendrons. Reach Debuche and visit Debuche Gompa, known for its old thangkas and murals painted on wooden panels.
The trail continues through dense forests to reach Milinggo, from where it drops steeply down to a suspension bridge over Imja Khola. Reach Pangboche, the village with the oldest monastery in the Khumbu region, Pangobche Gompa, which was founded by Lama Sange Dorje. Following Imja Khola, the trial climbs towards the village of Shomare and cuts through the isolated pastures and fields used for grazing yaks.
Reach the sprawling settlement of Dingboche, a cold and windy place with sub-zero night temperatures even in summers.
day 6 - Dingboche - Lobuche
Find yourself surrounded by mountains today as you travel past Dusa, Dughla and Chupki Lhara. See stones heaped together in memories of mountaineers who lost their lives in Everest. From Chupki Lhara, the trail drops to the moraine of the Khumbu Glacier with an amazing view of Khumbutse, Lingtren and Pumori peaks. Follow a murmuring stream to reach Lobuche. Stay overnight in a lodge.
day 7 - Lobuche - Gorekshep - Everest Base Camp
This day will be a long, hard one. Clamber past grassy terrain with a few scattered boulders and see the snowy wall of lofty mountains ahead. The 60m/200ft ascent takes us to the top of the lateral moraine wall of the Changri Glacier to a level spot called Thangma Riju from where you can see spectacular, panoramic views of mountains all around: Taboche and Lobuche peaks, Pumori and the rest of the mountains in the Mahalangur Range.
The trail takes you past the moraine of the Changri Glacier which joins the Khumbu Glacier from the west and climbs steeply up a stony slope to reach Gorakshep. Cross icefalls, frozen pools and large boulders to reach Everest Base Camp. Descend back to Gorakshep, where you will spend your night.
day 8 - Gorekshep - Kala Patthar - Pheriche
Start after an early breakfast. Cross the frozen, sandy plain of Gorekshep and start your ascend to Kala Patthar. It’s a slow and tough climb but every meter ascended is rewarded by a bit more of Everest.
Spend a while in the middle of an unbelievable Himalayan panorama before starting your journey downhill. Retrace the way you came up, passing through Gorekshep and Lobuche. From Dughla, instead of moving towards Dingboche, you will descend to Pheriche where you will stay overnight.
day 9 - Pheriche - Namche Bazaar
From Pheriche the trail descends to Tsuro Wog after crossing the bridge across Khumbu Khola. From Tsuro Wog, we start descending along the path we travelled earlier, past Orsho, Shomare and upper Pangboche to reach Tengboche.
Tengboche Monastery is Khumbu’s largest monastery. Head for Phunki Tenga from Tengboche and reach Namche Bazaar by evening.
day 10 - Namche Bazaar - Lukla
Follow the Dudh Kosi on the final day of the trek to reach Lukla.
day 11 - Lukla - Kathmandu (flight)
Fly from Lukla to Kathmandu. We will drop you off at your hotel. Rest and recuperate from the trip. In the evening you will be invited to join a farewell dinner.
day 12 - Kathmandu departure
Our representative will drop you off at airport for your flight back home. If you prefer to stay longer, you can consult us for short tours such game drives in national parks, white water rafting, mountain biking, etc.
