With expert guides, seamless logistics, and a focus on wildlife encounters, this tour is a superb introduction to Uganda’s natural treasures.
The tour’s unique appeal lies in its focus on primate safaris, promising memorable encounters with both chimpanzees and mountain gorillas in just over a week.
day 1 - Entebbe arrival
Upon arrival at Entebbe Airport, you will be picked up by our driver who will transfer you to your accommodation for refreshment and overnight stay. You are free for the rest of the day after checking into the accommodation.
Depending on the time of arrival, you can take a walk around Entebbe or visit the botanical garden if you want to.
day 2 - Entebbe – Kibale Forest National Park
Leave behind the Ugandan capital city of Kampala and drive to Fort Portal, a lovely town nestled in the shadow of the fabled Mountains of the Moon, famous for its tea plantations. Enjoy a packed lunch along the way as you drive past the Crater Lakes region to your scenic accommodation overlooking a forest and a crater lake.
day 3 - Chimpanzee tracking experience & transfer to Bigodi Swamp
Start the day tracking chimpanzees in the heart of Kibale. This reserve boasts the greatest variety and highest concentration of primates in East Africa, providing sightings of wild chimpanzees, red-tailed monkeys and black-and-white colobus monkeys.
After a hearty lunch, transfer to Bigodi to visit a local community initiative, the Bigodi Wetland Walk. Be on the lookout for primates and the rare great blue turaco, one of the 138 bird species found in the swamp area.
day 4 - Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park & evening game drive
Explore different crater lakes that contribute to the stunning beauty of the region after breakfast. Thereafter, continue to Kasese for lunch and coffee and drive to Queen Elizabeth National Park. There is an evening game drive in the national park before you proceed to the lodge.
day 5 - Queen Elizabeth National Park: Game drive and boat cruise
The day begins with an early breakfast after which we go for a game drive in the Kasenyi Plains, which act as a mating ground for the kobs of the national park. You might spot waterbucks, buffaloes, elephants, lions and warthogs in the plains.
Enjoy a boat cruise in the Kazinga Channel after lunch. This is a natural channel that connects Lake George and Lake Edward. See different species of animals and birds as you sail down the channel.
day 6 - Game drive and transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
Embark on a game drive in the plains of Ishasha after an early morning breakfast. There is a chance that you might encounter tree-climbing lions today. The landscape of the Ishasha Plains is unique compared with other parts of the national park.
We will transfer you to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park in the afternoon.
day 7 - Gorilla trekking experience in Bwindi
Proceed to the park office for registration and briefing after an early breakfast. Today you will get the chance to see the largest and heaviest primate in its natural habitat. Trekking through Bwindi in search of these majestic creatures sometimes involves walking up steep and densely forested hills.
It may take between three to eight hours under muddy and strenuous conditions, sometimes with rain, to find your assigned group. But all these difficulties are worth the reward of seeing these amazing mountain gorillas.
day 8 - Scenic drive to Entebbe & departure
Leave the forests of Bwindi behind and make your way back through villages and rolling hills to Entebbe. Keep an eye out for zebras, impalas and other plain game as you pass through Lake Mburo National Park, on your way to the equator. Have your lunch en route before continuing on to Entebbe for your flight back home. We can arrange an extra night in the city at an additional cost if you want to.
