I literally cannot find the words to express how incredible this trip was for me. 15 days of adventure, fun, adrenaline with meeting some of the best people I have ever met. We started as strangers and we left as really close friends.
Our Trip Manager made it unforgettable and went above and beyond to make the trip run as smooth as possible for us. Africa is one of the best places I have ever visited and I can’t wait to return with my two sons and husband in the future. It just has so much to offer and I wouldn’t have done it any other way without Contiki.
I traveled with my best friend and cousin and the three of us had such a good time.
I do recommend taking any second hand clothes or stationary for the families of the township in Cape Town that you wish to donate. I wish I had known more about the townships and how very little they have in life. Really recommend using the card and app Wise as well for multiple country currencies while there. A few hotels are cash less but in saying that very good to have cash for tipping the locals if you want to. Africa definitely changes your perspective with some things in life and I feel very privileged to be able to see it the way we did. I travelled in October and the weather was perfect, warm further north we went, cooler in Cape Town.
The animals and the wildlife in the national parks are just out of this world. We saw the big 5 within 2 hours of being at Kruger National Park. Was just mind-blowing and amazing to see them the way we did. Pack a rain jacket, pack binoculars, pack a head torch and neutral safari clothes.
Thanks , thanks Contiki!!

I loved my trip and had the adventure of a lifetime! *personal info removed by Feefo* , our guide, was fantastic, friendly, fun, and very knowledgeable. We felt very well looked after. The locations and activities were incredible. I did almost everything, so I was exhausted, but it was all worth it for the experience. I had an amazing time.

I couldn’t recommend this trip more, it exceeded all of my expectations! It was genuinely the most present, joyful and fun two weeks I have had in the longest time. Our TM was so so fantastic and exceptional at his job - he made us feel so safe, relaxed and supported. This trip was such an adventure and I’d jump at the chance to visit all these places again!
The itinerary was phenomenal - it is jam packed but you get to see so so much! Depending on the time of year you go, make sure to bring your electrolytes and a fan (we went in September and it gets HOT!). Also don’t expect a super clubbing/going out drinking itinerary, there is opportunity to do that occasionally but it is not the focus of this trip at all- this was actually a big draw for me and it was the perfect - think chilled evening/sunset beers.
The accomodation was really lovely and way nicer than we expected. The camping special stays were also very comfortable and amazing experiences. You are in the bush so be prepared, there are insects, spiders etc. It can also get dusty on some of the game drives so bring a neck buff or silk scarf too.
The water rafting is intense so only do it if you are into extreme activities.
All the food was great and so cheap when comparing to what the AUD gets you at home. We didn’t have to worry about food safety once, everything was fresh and delicious.
Also, Africa gets a bad wrap safety wise and as a young woman I had some pre-trip anxiety, but I felt really safe the entire time so please don’t let that stop you from booking a trip to Southern Africa.
