Itinerary

Cycle from the storied canals of Amsterdam to the cosmopolitan heart of Brussels on the "Amsterdam to Brussels by Bike" tour, an 8-day self-guided journey through the scenic lowlands of Holland and Belgium. Ideal for experienced travelers and seniors, this easy-paced bicycle trip offers a rich tapestry of cultural experiences and culinary delights.

Follow a well-marked 340km route past historic towns like Gouda—famous for its cheese and syrup waffles—and the iconic windmills of Kinderdijk. Cross into Belgium to sample Antwerp’s legendary beers and Brussels’ world-renowned chocolates, ensuring each day is as rewarding for the palate as it is for the senses. Carefully selected cycle-friendly hotels immerse you in local character and comfort each evening.

A standout feature of this tour package is the leisurely approach to two vibrant capitals, with ample time for sightseeing, local tastings, and the discovery of centuries-old architecture, making it a top choice for those seeking a relaxed yet culturally immersive cycling adventure.

day 1Arrive Amsterdam

Make your own way to Amsterdam and check into the first hotel. Amsterdam is one of Europe's crown jewels - there is so much to do and see here. If you arrive early make sure you go for a walk to marvel at the 17th century townhouses in the World Heritage listed canal district. The Anne Frank House, Rijksmuseum, Van Gogh Museum, Vondelpark or a canal cruise are just some of the things you can do and see in Amsterdam. If you prefer to roam off the beaten track, saunter up Brouwersgracht or hire a canal bike and see the city from the water.
The usual hotel is a comfortable 3* in Amsterdam. There's the option to upgrade to a neighbouring 4* hotel - must be requested at time of booking, a supplement applies.

We had an excellent week on the bikes and no rain. Everything went smoothly despite making a few wrong turns and having to deal with a few detours.
