This trip takes us north along the scenic Pan-American Highway, leading us to the fascinating Quitsato solar clock. This remarkable cultural site, originally constructed in pre-Hispanic times, was designed for tracking solstices and equinoxes.

Located right on the equator line, it's often referred to as the center of the world. To savor the local flavors, we pause for a delightful coffee or chocolate break, accompanied by delicious Ecuadorian cakes that are akin to small, oven-baked bread with an exceptional taste. What's even more special is that we get to witness the baking process.

Our next destination is Otavalo, famous for hosting the most extensive indigenous handicraft market in South America. This bustling market is open every day of the week. Here, you'll have approximately two hours to explore and shop to your heart's content at La Plaza de los Ponchos.

Before reaching Cotacachi, we pause at a scenic viewpoint overlooking San Pablo Lake, framed by the magnificent Mount Imbabura. Cotacachi is renowned for its leather goods, and you'll have 45 minutes to browse through the charming craft shops. Our final stop is the breathtaking Cuicocha Lagoon, nestled within an active volcanic crater at 3068 meters (10,065.62 feet). This lagoon features intriguing islets or domes.

After an enriching day, we'll head back to your Quito hotel, ensuring a comfortable and convenient return.

Your day kicks off with a delicious breakfast at your hotel, setting you up for an adventure through Quito's enchanting Historic Center. This area is a captivating blend of cobbled streets, charming squares, and well-preserved colonial architecture dating back to the 16-18th centuries, a Unesco World Heritage Site since 1978.

Get ready for a scenic two-hour drive along the central Pan-American Highway to reach the entrance of Cotopaxi National Park. Here, you'll have the chance to explore local handicrafts and immerse yourself in the Andean culture. A hike around the Limpiopungo lagoon on the high plains allows you to closely observe the region's diverse flora and fauna.

Next, a short drive up the Cotopaxi volcano's slopes takes you to "the parking lot," where your ascent to the refuge begins. Enjoy a hot beverage while taking in panoramic views of the Cotopaxi National Park's vast Paramo (Andean Highlands), with the extinct volcanos Ruminahui, Pasochoa, and Sincholagua as a backdrop.

After a satisfying lunch, your journey continues to the stunning turquoise Quilotoa lagoon, a place steeped in history and legend, believed to be the last resting place of the Inca. Along the way, you'll visit the Toachi Canyon viewpoint, formed by volcanic pyroclastic flows that have sculpted a dramatic gorge, running through the Iliniza Reserve.

Baños presents you with an enticing adventure along the Route of the Waterfalls. It all begins at the majestic Agoyan dam and leads you to the breathtaking Manto de la Novia Waterfall. Here, you have the chance to experience the thrill of the Tarabita (cable car), gently transporting you across the meandering Rio Patate to explore the waterfall on the opposite bank.

Hike to astounding altitudes exceeding 5000 meters at the grand "El Chimborazo." Our excursion commences in the charming town of Baños. After a quick breakfast pitstop along the Panamerican Highway E35, we venture to the Chimborazo Fauna Reproduction Reserve. At the Hermanos Carrel Refuge, situated at a breathtaking 4800 meters, we start our ascent to the Whymper Refuge, perched at almost 5000 meters.

The most adventurous among us can journey even higher to surpass the 5000-meter threshold. A well-deserved box lunch at the upper refuge precedes our descent to the lower refuge and our return to Baños, where you can reflect on an extraordinary day.

Our adventure kicks off with an early morning departure, setting out on the Panamerican Highway. We head south towards the indigenous market of Guamote, one of the nation's most vibrant and colorful markets. Here, you'll gain profound insights into the local Kichua community's way of life, clothing, traditions, and economy. As you navigate the bustling streets, brimming with a multitude of products and animals, you'll become part of this lively village's daily rhythms.

Next, we journey into the prestigious Sangay National Park, a Unesco Natural Heritage of Humanity. A leisurely three-kilometer hike leads you to one of the stunning Ozogoche lakes within the park's expanse. This pristine environment is home to over 45 lagoons and boasts a rich array of wildlife, including the emblematic cucuvies bird, and an array of highland flora such as Stipu Ichu (paramo grass), Cortaderia, and bromeliads.

As you reach the viewpoints, you'll be treated to awe-inspiring vistas of the untamed landscape framed by the encircling mountains. The serenity of this ecosystem offers an opportunity for peace, the crisp mountain air, and an unfiltered connection with nature. The day concludes in Guamote, a city steeped in history, culture, gastronomy, and religion. Here, you can unwind and immerse yourself in the unique ambiance of your hotel.

Venture into an entirely distinct realm with an invigorating hour-and-a-half drive. The journey unfolds with a visit to the awe-inspiring Devil's Nose viewpoint, offering breathtaking vistas, and the quaint Sibambe Train Station. Delight your taste buds with a traditional lunch, lovingly prepared by a local Kañari family (please note that lunch is not included).

Engage in a unique ritual ceremony, an extraordinary window into the age-old customs of the Kañari people. Our adventure leads us to the remarkable Ingapirca Ruins, a Unesco Cultural Heritage Site of profound significance. These ruins are an integral part of the Inca Road system, known as the "Capac Ñan."

From there, we embark on a hiking journey that spans up to two and a half hours. Traverse the highlands and their wetland moors, wh ere you'll connect with the rich flora and fauna of the area, including the renowned Polylepis trees. It's a journey of discovery and appreciation for the natural wonders that thrive here. In the afternoon, we take you to a typical coastal agro-ecological farm to relish a delightful lunch (not included). Here, you'll have the chance to explore cocoa plantations, engage in the intricacies of cocoa harvesting and drying, and savor the essence of rich, local chocolate.

Your chocolate journey continues with a visit to a chocolate workshop, where you'll learn the art of crafting delectable chocolate bars. As the day draws to a close, we embark on the final leg of our adventure. A short drive of about an hour brings us to the vibrant city of Guayaquil, where we'll pick up fellow travelers. Together, we embark on the last stretch of our journey to Montañita, and finally, we reach your cozy haven in Puerto Lopez.

The morning brings an exciting journey as we venture to the small port, the gateway to our Isla de la Plata (Silver Island) adventure. This secluded haven is a natural paradise, home to an array of seabirds like blue-footed boobies, red-footed boobies, Nazca boobies, frigate birds, cuckoos, and countless others.

Embark on a two-hour exploration along the island's enchanting trails, offering insights into its diverse flora and fauna. Discover the island's rich ancestral history, filled with intriguing tales (yes, even pirates!) and captivating cultures. As you traverse the island, be ready to be mesmerized by stunning landscapes featuring majestic cliffs, serene beaches, and hidden bays. The day's highlight comes when we invite you to snorkel alongside the island, immersing yourself in the vibrant marine life that thrives in its crystal-clear waters.

Glide through underwater coral reefs, swimming with an array of colorful fish, graceful sea turtles, playful dolphins, majestic manta rays, and, depending on the season (June to September), awe-inspiring humpback whales. As we make our way back to the port, indulge in a delicious box lunch. With the afternoon at your leisure, you can choose to relax or explore further at your own pace.

Prepare to delve into the heritage of Ecuador's Manteño people. Our journey commences in the heart of the coastal dry forest at the Ancestral Community Agua Blanca. While wandering along the forest's winding paths, spot the resident iguanas lounging amidst the trees. En route to Manta, our journey brings us to Montecristi, a place of time-honored craftsmanship. Learn the intricate art of crafting different types of hats using Paja Toquilla, often mislabeled as Panama hats. This remarkable tradition has earned its place on Unesco's Cultural Heritage of Humanity list.

Our journey commences with an immersive visit to the community of Chorrillos, where the ancient art of cabuya-making still thrives. Delve into the intricacies of this fading craft while exploring the myriad of handcrafted treasures that adorn the village.

From there, we venture to the ethereal La Segua wetland, a Ramsar protected area teeming with endemic avian life and embraced by vibrant local communities. As the day unfolds, we pause for a traditional lunch, allowing you to relish local delicacies such as crispy Chame (fish) and savory chicken tonga, thoughtfully prepared by the La Segua community.

By evening, we find ourselves in Mushily, a heartwarming Tsáchila tribe community project in Santo Domingo. Here, under the evening sky, we savor a delectable dinner and nestle into our cozy hotel, a perfect immersion in Ecuador's rich cultural tapestry.

Begin your day with an authentic Tsáchila breakfast, lovingly prepared by the local community. Afterward, embark on a picturesque two-hour drive to Mindo, a picturesque village nestled within the Choco Andino biosphere reserve, one of Ecuador's most biologically diverse regions.

In Mindo, a private natural reserve beckons, offering a captivating birdwatching experience and a chance to get up close to enchanting hummingbirds. Dive into the world of high-altitude coffee, learning about the entire coffee-making process, from bean to brew, while sampling various preparations and flavors.
