Ricardo Rafael Martinez Ortiz

My name is Ricardo, but everyone calls me Ricky. I was born and raised in Havana, Cuba, and I am completely dedicated to designing personalized trips for anyone who wants to explore my beautiful island. I've always loved outdoor sports. As a child, I mostly played baseball, but later I developed a passion for the sea and activities like navigation, snorkeling, scuba diving, and cliff climbing. Teaching has always been my great passion. I spent almost 10 years as a high school teacher until my love for travel took over. Since then, I have worked as a national travel guide in Cuba and, for the past 10 years, as a travel designer at Altai Cuba. Today, nothing brings me more joy than creating vibrant, attractive, and energizing travel experiences for my clients.

I am a travel specialist and my work area is my island, Cuba. The entire island is within my reach and knowledge! I have been visiting all corners of it for years and know well what to do in each of them. Places like Havana, Vinales, Bay of Pigs, Cienfuegos, Trinidad, Santa Clara, and Varadero are perhaps the most visited today. However, I can extend trips to the eastern part of the island to visit emblematic places like Santiago de Cuba or Guantanamo, with Baracoa being the most attractive spot. The activities I promote the most are cultural encounters. Taking visitors to local communities to show how they live and what they do is a priority for me. Additionally, activities such as snorkeling are on the agenda, along with horse riding, trekking, climbing, and many others.

I have traveled as a client to fabulous places like Portugal, Denmark, and Sweden. I also lived in Africa! But my best trips have been in my own country. Some of these trips include Viñales and its attractions such as tobacco crops, the keys to the north of this region such as Jutias and Levisa, and horse riding among the mogotes. Meeting the people, sharing their ways of cooking, and drinking the delicious Guayabita del Pinar have remained the most pleasant travel experiences I've had.
