I had a great time in Cuba. Lionel and the team were really professional, trustworthy, and accommodating. Would definitely book with them again!

The tour and the guide were excellent, and we saw a lot more than we were expecting in Havana. They were also flexible in letting us see some places on our list so we appreciate it. The hosts in Varadero were also very accompanying especially when we asked to stay a couple extra nights. Overall the tour was fantastic.

G Adventures

G Adventures

G Adventures About Us Started by Bruce Poon Tip in the year 1990, G Adventures transformed from a young man’s vision into a global conglomerate in a very short amount of time. As an enthusiastic and passionate traveler, Bruce dreamt of sharing his travel experience with the world. Giving birth to G Adventures with nothing but personal credit cards, this one-man army soon emerged with over 2000 employees spread over 23 different offices all over the world. Now catering to more than 150000 travelers each year, G Adventures is truly one of the largest and most passionate tour operators out there. A Sense of Adventure Ever had that overpowering feeling of heading off to an adventure after watching movies like Lord of the Rings, Pirates of the Caribbean, Indiana Jones and Tomb Raider? Adventure travel has a way of making you fall in love with the world, helping you discover yourself and learn unique skillsets as you explore the planet, meet new people and get your adrenaline pumping. G Adventures will help you do all that. Smaller Groups One of the biggest issues that most group travelers face is the group size. Most tour operators conduct tours in large groups which could spoil the entire experience. This is what makes G Adventures so different. We specialize in offering tours in smaller group sizes at some of the most exclusive places in the world, all at the best prices. A smaller group simply opens up your itinerary a little more, making it more accessible, proving security and companionship and offering enriching experiences with complete strangers. Travel Responsibly The world is a beautiful place to be in and traveling is probably the greatest gift that we can offer to ourselves and our loved ones. Enjoying a destination and becoming a part of its beautiful culture is a great thing to do, but it is equally important to ensure that you’re giving back to the community. From choosing local businesses and developing community based rural travel projects to offering disaster relief services and preventing animal abuse, G Adventures truly operates with the belief that travel is a medium of exchange, which means that they try and give back as much as possible to the local community. Quality Service As one of the most reputed travel operators on the planet, G Adventures is all about making your tours feel extra special. The company is a proud recipient of numerous awards, many of which highlight exactly how travel operators should be run. Some of the awards received by G Adventures include Baxter Travel Media Canada's Favourite Adventure Tour Operator, Readers Choice Best National Adventure Operator in Canada, Vacation.com Canada Specialty Tour Operator Partner of the Year and National Geographic Traveler's Tours of a Lifetime. So the next time you get one of those pangs, that lust for an adventure of a lifetime, all you have to do is choose your favorite destination, select your preferred G Adventures tour and dive into a world of mystery, excitement and endless fun. If you have any questions for us, please do not hesitate to contact us directly via the 'Make An Enquiry' button.

Intrepid Travel

Intrepid Travel

4.6

Intrepid Travel was the brainchild of two individuals who followed their dreams, ignoring the distractions of the late 80s, to create something beautiful, something they both loved doing- a business model that revolved around adventure travel. What started as an epic road trip in the wild and desolate lands of Africa, soon emerged as a world-famous travel desk, one that offered unseen and unheard adventures to people around the world. Today, Intrepid Travel is responsible for helping out more than 100,000 tourists around the world and its staff of 1000 work tirelessly to ensure that each of the 800-odd itineraries that the company runs presents the perfect balance between adventure, culture, history and natural beauty. You’re in Good Hands Intrepid Travel organizes itineraries across Asia, Europe, North America, South America, Africa, Australia and the Middle East. They even offer trips to the Arctic and Antarctica! No wonder that Intrepid grabbed countless awards and accolades over the years- from being the 2002 Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year to winning the PATA award in the year 2007. Small Group Adventures You’re going to a new place, where the people, the language, the food, the customs, even the way of life feels different. As exciting as it sounds, you long to hold onto something that is relatable, something that gives your mind a sense of comfort. And this feeling of fellowship can never be found in large robot-like group tours. Exploring a destination in a small group not only lets you enjoy the personal attention of your guide, it also makes the journey more exciting, your companions more approachable. Hassle-Free Experiences There’s a reason we prefer to bank on the pros for all kinds of things in life- their unique skill sets, knowledge and experience lets them do the job better. The same goes for travel. Rather than doing everything yourself, relying on search engines and social media gossip only to realize that you made a colossal mistake after it’s too late, you’re better off leaving the planning and the organizing to the pros. There’s a reason why thousands depend on them after all!

Jordan is a fantastic location. Strongly recommended for the variety of cultural and historical visits, the fabulous scenery and the range of interesting and unique activities. The Roman town of Jerash was the highlight, closely followed by Petra. Our local guide, Saleh, was so very knowledgeable and friendly. We felt completely safe. We covered so much in our week. Excellent value.

We went there in December, just after the country suffered severe cyclone and flooding. Very nice hotels, plenty of food (maybe too much), and well looked after by the team. Nice relaxing pace of cycling. Plenty of interesting places to see on the way. We made a Youtube video to share our experience: https://youtu.be/N06BHdyCL00?si=VRTgl8lFxGbMP4uA

Itinerary The trip was really great--I loved the diversity of going to smaller, traditional places as well as the modern cities. There were times when I thought we would have more free time than we did--Kyoto (tour activities ended at approx. 3:30), Kobe (arrived 1 hr before the gardens closed so didn't go), and Hiroshima (tour activities ended at approx 4 pm). I loved all of the places that we went too--in retrospect I would have added additional days in Kyoto (I arrived a day in advance) and benefitted greatly from my flight home being delayed giving me a full extra day in Toyko that I hadn't planned for. The tour is very fast pace and you do walk alot--so just bring a really good pair of running shoes with you! Hotels All were good--my favourite was Hotel Toyko in Takayama. I rented a private onsen for an hour which was very nice and enjoyed the unique art they had on each floor. I really appreciated the washer/dryer in the hotel room--while I had enough clothes it was nice to wash them and be able to go out for dinner at the same time and not feel in a rush to get back to the room (it was free and they did provide soap if you don't have any). The hotels in Kyoto and Tokyo were nice as well--the first modern and the last traditional. All of the hotels were really clean, provided great breakfasts, and had toiletries if you forget any (and if you wanted pjs to wear). Transportation The bullet trains were very cool as were all of the trains. They are very prompt! The subway system is easy to manoever--I used Google Maps to tell me what stop to get off and where to walk and never got lost (even in Toyko). The trains are very quiet and clean--getting onto and off public transit is done in lines so there never is a rush and in most cases the train/subway cars were empty. The bus system in Kyoto makes getting between places slow so factor that in. Also, the connection from Osaka to Kyoto was pretty easy to do but made harder with getting off a transatlantic flight. Doing this again, I would fly direct into Tokyo and then get to Kyoto the next day. Felt very safe and comfortable walking around by myself--even in the evening. The locals are very helpful if you want to confirm directions. Food I am normally a very fussy eater and I didn't have a problem finding things to eat. In fact, I wish I had more time in Kyoto in the traditional area to have some of the different food options the shops offered. I also didn't have time to get a hot drink from a dispensing machine! I found breakfast made me full and then we would go somewhere at dinner that would fill me up (I often had noodle dishes). I would have been ok finding my own dinner in Takayama instead of group meals--the different styles of eating were good to experience. While I liked going out to eat with the group, it was tough having to have the bill together--it would have been easier to be able to pay for my own food.

We had a fantastic experience with the team planning for our first trip to Chile! Claudia organized an incredible trip, including Santiago, Valparaiso, and then domestic flights to San Pedro de Atacama and Patagonia. We had the most magical trip and appreciated the thoughtful planning and considerations to help us make the most of our vacation! We also loved working with Joaquina from the Customer Service Team, who took care of us throughout all of our adventures! Even when one of our flights was canceled (due to bad weather), Joaquina jumped in to help us find alternate options. We highly recommend the team and would love to work with them again in the future! 💫

Initially, I was reluctant to visit Iguazu as I thought its just another waterfall, but when I saw the beauty of this waterfall I was speechless. You have to visit this place to experience the beauty and enormity. The Macuco safari & boat trip to under the waterfall I am not going to forget ever. Since I was unable to visit the Argentina side of the waterfall, I was able to spend the day at the Itaipu Dam and also the 3 fronteiras (borders). What a memorable trip.

Everything went perfect. From the time I was picked up from the hotel in Manaus, the boat ride crossing the Negro and Amazon rivers, the drive from the pier to the boat ride to the resort. I was in awe of the beauty and enormity of the forest. While boating through the flooded path amidst the trees, I fell in love with the Amazon forest. Definitely coming back again.

Since Lars Wikander's and Mike McDowell's pioneering North Pole voyage in 1991, we’ve taken thousands of curious travelers to corners of the world that earlier generations could only dream of visiting. Along the way, we’ve achieved an unprecedented series of firsts in polar exploration and have led the way in polar expeditions, making the Arctic and Antarctica accessible to travelers from 50 countries around the world. Today, we still carry the spirit of the great explorers while sharing our passion for regions whose environmental purity transcends political boundaries, and whose beauty defies description. Polar travel is all we do, and we’re passionate about ensuring every one of our passengers have the experience of a lifetime.

First two days due to strong winds we were exploring unexpectedly fjord near Kangerlussuaq airport in Greenland. This affected the planned itinerary and expedition team worked hard to resolve various issues. It was a very memorable experience with 18 nights on board of Ultramarine. We have visited places where no other expedition ships have been or only visited on rare occasions. We were lucky with clear skies on the first 6 nights and the Aurora Borealis was better and better on each night. Glaciers, icebergs were nice backdrops on many photos and experiences were enhanced with helicopter flights over magnificent landscapes of Baffin island (Sam Ford fjord especially) and Greenland. Wonderful autumn colours of tundra and rock formations were explored on many hikes in addition to the visits to archeological sites. Introduction to Inuit culture and history was during visits to Itileq, Ilulissat, Uummannaaq, Nipisat island and Pond Inlet. It was enhanced by performances of local artists and visits to Inuit colourful homes. Although the wildlife of Arctic is not so plentiful as in Antarctica, we managed to have wonderful observations of numerous polar bears (12 in one day!), seals and birds. We also followed somewhat the footsteps of Franklin's expedition and reached the Beechey island where the expedition has spent the winter in 1845/46 and where are some graves of the sailors. Expedition team members presented many interesting lectures on history, geology, birds and bears. It was also a nice culinary experience of Greenlandic cuisine: Tundra to Table.

Excellent -  Anonymous

The ship and staff for the journey provided enthusiastic, effective and patient support, with a well-executed itinerary that I'd trust for future trips. Food and accommodation were excellent. Waters were very calm once reaching Antarctica, to relieve anyone's seasickness. Mountain and Glacier landscapes were great. The wildlife in the area is plentiful, where we saw at least some whales, seals and penguins every day we were in Antarctica and probably 20ish whales overall. The animals aren't afraid of humans and so at worst ignore you as you get fairly close. Extra downtime filled with interesting presentations about history, animals, current antarctic science and recent environmental issue affecting it. If you absolutely must have Emporer penguins, elephant seals or Orca, check the season you're going as we saw just a few but they were unusual and not to be expected at the time/places we went. I'd recommend this trip to anyone I knew going to Antarctica who hasn't been there before and doesn't have extremely specific desires for wildlife that I didn't mention. It's fun, comprehensive, and the minimum commitment required for the adventure it offers. This trip took place on the Ocean Endeavor, in early-mid February, on the West side of the Antarctic Peninsula.
