The best part was at Petra: first by night and then "round the back from above".. but other highlights included sleeping under the stars, sunrise and sunset in the desert, just missing a sandstorm and ripping my shorts climbing down a steep rocky cliff. In addition to the expected highlights of Petra, Wadi Rum, snorkelling in the Red Sea and floating in the Dead Sea, the unexpected delights of visiting a local family at Um Qais (and cooking/dining with them), the expansive Roman ruins at Jerash and our extraordinary driver Firas made this trip wonderful. We had a brilliant time on the Explore Jordan Discovery trip, we saw and did just so much. It's quite full on, with lots of walking and sometimes clambering (9 miles one day in Petra), which is what we like, but important to know beforehand. The minibus was very comfortable, with a great driver, free water and even Wi-Fi! We had plenty of breaks so none of the journeys seemed too long. The Bedouin camp was much more comfortable than expected. I'd recommend this trip 100%.

This was a great itinerary, although an extra day in Petra would be helpful especially when you are battling heat. To have time to actually use the pool at the 'village' hotel would be incredible. We came in around 10-11pm and were out by 7 am the next morning. Also, you really need to deal with the 'extra' activities. We came in early to do the Desert Castles add-on and were told we had to wait to talk to our tour director - who we didn't see until 6 pm that evening when it was too late. (when we asked about it before going we were told to talk to our tour director when we got there)
