We have just spent a week in Sri Lanka for our honeymoon and use Aitken Spence as our chauffeur guide for our trips. We had Rodney as our chauffeur guide and I have never met someone so lovely, calm, patient, helpful and passionate. He is a credit to the company and made our visit to Sri Lanka very relaxing and took care of our every need. He was punctual every day for our meeting times, enlightened us with all sorts of information about Sri Lanka during our trip which was very interesting and made sure we were comfortable all the time. The car was comfortable and very clean every day and had enough leg room and space for all our luggage. We had a great time trekking to Annapurna Base Camp, our guide and porters were professional, friendly and always sorted us out. It rained a lot - so if you're going in the monsoon, be aware and bring lots of waterproofs! We saw beautiful views and incredible scenery when the clouds cleared, however, which made it all worthwhile. The trek is of medium difficulty, with a lot of stone stairs to climb and descend, so be fit and invest in good boots and poles!

Annapurna Base Camp Trek is a classic guesthouse trek in Nepal. The trail lies on the western part of the Annapurna range, which includes mountains such as Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Fang, Annapurna 1, Ganagapurna, Annapurna 3 and Machhapuchhare. All these majestic mountains are set in a circle around Annapurna Base Camp, at a diameter of ten miles. Upon reaching Annapurna Base Camp at 4,130 meters, you will thus be rewarded with an amphitheater of snow covered mountains all around you - an amazing, once-in-a-lifetime moment likely never to be forgotten.
From this mountainous epicenter, also known as the Annapurna Sanctuary, the Modi Khola cuts its way south in a narrow gorge being 12,000 feet deep. Further south, the gorge opens up into a wide and fertile valley, the domain of the local Gurung people. We will pass through several local villages on this trek giving you ample of opportunity to get insights on local traditions and cultures.
The middle and upper portions of Modi Khola offer some of the best short trekking routes in Nepal, and the valley is located so that these trails are easily combined into this trekking itinerary.
If you are reasonably fit and able to walk 5-6 hours a day, you can do this trek. If you are not confident in your physical fitness, we recommend adding a porter when booking. One porter can carry 30 kgs and can be shared between two people.

Our recent trip to Nepal was incredible. This would not have been possible without the head office team led by Prem Khatry. As CEO and founder, Prem is both an entrepreneur and compassionate community leader. His team's attention to detail was key to our trip. Upon our initial visit with him in Nepal he assessed our needs and quickly suggested we do the ultralight flight in Pokhara, which of course, we knew nothing about - and it turned out to a major highlight of our Nepal visit. This chap Prem, raised in the mountains of Gorkha, knows his stuff.
Our pick for guide of the year - is the guide that truly made our entire trip special - Dill Tamang. Having been involved in this sector for many years his immense knowledge flows out of him as you walk through magical Nepal with your mouth wide open. Dill, who himself was born in a remote village in Nepal showed us the incredible beauty of Nepal in so many ways. He understood us within the first day. A highlight was Dill searching out the Guru Rinpoche Cave for us even though it was not on the original tour - he made it happen.
