Jalapão is already well known by Brazilians, but not so much by the rest of the world. Located in Tocantins state, Jalapão is an example that Brazil has much more to offer than beaches and the Amazon Rainforest. Amongst the most popular attractions is the Cachoeira da Velha, an enormous waterfall approximately 100 meters wide and 15 meters high; the orange Dunes with its almost 40 meters, one of Jalapão’s most unique sceneries; and the small towns of Mumbuca and Prata, communities made by descendants of escaped slaves, where it is possible to visit and live the local culture. Also, there are Serra do Espírito Santo, a rock formation where it is possible to enjoy the native nature; Cachoeira da Formiga, a charming waterfall of emerald waters; and the Fervedouros (Boilers), with their transparent waters where people can float.
