All in all, it was a first-class tour. Patagonia was amazingly, breath takingly beautiful. Our tour manager Cristobal was outstanding. A very dedicated, personable, knowledgeable and caring person who showed interest in all 24 of us on the tour. My husband & I would like to take another tour with him. Accommodations were first class. The only negative mention about the accommodations was the Remota Patagonia Lodge, although unusual, interesting architecture & lovely setting, we wish it was closer to Puerto Natales as we would have liked to have had more time to explore. The 4 days cruise aboard the Ventus Australis was exceptional, the service, food and knowledgeable crew, some of whom were our onshore guides. Most of the tour inclusions were excellent. My most memorable experiences were visiting the stunning Perito Moreno Glacier near El Calafate (some parts of the glacier inspired the look of a beautiful ice cathedral with sterling blue stained-glass windows), Torres del Paine National Park with its majestic mountains, aqua glacial waters and wild life (the good weather gods were with us to see all there was to see!), a Zodiac trip to Tucker Islets to see close-up the Magellan penguins and the chance to disembark at Cape Horn National Park, the "end of the earth". I was disappointed we did not have enough time to go for a hike at Tierra del Fuego National Park. The tour of Buenos Aires at the beginning of our trip was good but wish we had a chance to spend more time in the La Boca neighborhood.

Imagine sitting in a Zodiac or kayak in the waters off the Antarctic Peninsula in the company of marine mammal scientists, listening to whale sounds—sometimes haunting, sometimes melodic—from deep beneath the ocean surface. You, the guest, aren’t merely an observer; you’re a participant in citizen science. With the deployment of portable hydrophone units—just one aspect of the 11-day hands-on Antarctic Marine Mammals: The World of Whales & Seals—you’ll have access to an audio portal into the underwater world of the Antarctic Peninsula. In that moment, as you assist experts who are collecting data on various aspects of whale behavior, you are helping to protect one of the most majestic marine mammals to grace the Antarctic. Throughout this unique expedition to the Antarctic Peninsula and South Shetland Islands, guests will explore alongside Ari Friedlaender, founder of the Friedlaender Lab, a highly respected marine mammal research group at the University of California. Friedlaender co-developed this 11-day itinerary that will maximize migratory whale sightings, primarily minke, humpback and fin whales. Throughout the voyage, guests will learn from Friedlaender and his team, who focus on new biotelemetry technology to better understand the underwater behavior and ecology of whales. You will also have access to a research associate from Happywhale, the educational platform that engages citizen scientists to identify individual whale species for research and conservation purposes. A special component of this trip is the Science Hub, where you can engage with whale experts, contribute to citizen science projects, and ultimately play a vital role in conserving this pristine polar habitat for all marine mammals.
Spend more time in the remote, ice-laden Weddell Sea—home to massive Adélie penguin colonies and colossal tabular icebergs—than you ever imagined possible. In fact, our arrival in Antarctica coincides with the Winter Solstice, December 21, 2027. Guided by our seasoned Expedition Team, this route is designed with maximum flexibility to adapt to shifting conditions and reach rarely visited sites few travelers ever see.
Our schooner boat ride tour will take you visit some of the 65 islands and hundreds of beaches that the Bay of Paraty has to offer! all surrounded by lush vegetation and with calm and crystal clear waters, ideal for swimming and snorkeling.
